This is a simple data collection thread similar to others you may have seen scattered around the forums. Some are more formal than others, but among the many "mileage" ones within the various forums, the concept and intent often gets digressed and scattered.
Anyway I thought it would be cool to have our own MK6 Jetta "scorecard" in this specific forum. I lovingly refer to my poster child rendition as the "red-headed stepchild model" due to some sentiments from some of the long-timers, so here is a place to cheer on YOUR MK6 and show off their mettle!
ALL you have to do is: 1. Quote the very previous post that has the latest list, 2. Add your line in the format illustrated,* and 3. Delete the "

*Do not be intimidated by the formatting, make it easy on yourself. When posting the first time, I recommend simply copying the line closest to yours, pasting it where you need to put it, and edit that to reflect your data. Don't worry if you have too much trouble, someone here will likely ultimately fix it.
PLEASE try to put your data in mileage order, highest to lowest and under the correct year. It's just bit of careful copy/pasting.
The idea is to show how often the "worry items" are actually being needed. So if YOU just bought the car new, all the values are "1" -meaning "original, first one from factory" -for owner, TB, DPF, etc..... Warranty repair/defective replacement items DO count.
-Anyone from anywhere with an MK6 Jetta Sedan (in alignment with this forum's classification) can contribute, but please convert your kilometers to miles as necessary. Simply multiply your kilometers by 0.62137 OR use this handy converter: http://www.metric-conversions.org/length/kilometers-to-miles.htm
Below is a legend for the color coding:
(Your Mileage) MI (Date of your posting/update) (Your TDIClub forum handle) V.: (Stands for Verson" -your vehicle's transmission type and package/designation, see acronym key below) Owner: 1 TB: 2 DPF: 1 HPFP: 1 EF: 3 FB: 1RB: 2 Note: (optional note section, within the single line is preferred)
MODEL PACKAGE/TRANSMISSION TYPE DESIGNATION AND COMPONENT ACRONYM KEYS:
6MT= Six-speed manual transmission
DSG= "Automatic" Transmission
USA MODELS:
BSE= "base" model package
PRM= "premium" model package
CANADIAN MODELS:
CL= Comfortline model package
HL= Highline model package
COMPONENTS:
TB= Timing Belt Replacement: Recommended every 120 thousand miles (should include H20 pump, rollers, hardware, etc)
DPF= Diesel Particulate Filter: Subject to habits of usage, this is in the exhaust stream, and collects oil ash volume until its capacity and then replaced
HPFP= High Pressure Fuel Pump: No specification on replacement interval, but a watchful eye is kept on this hot topic
EF= Exhaust Flap: No specification on replacement interval, but a not-uncommon issue that still isn't cheap
FB= Front Brakes: Yes, even if you do just pads, but sensibly should be a pad and rotor job
RB= Rear Brakes: See above. Basically these categories are just another a subtextual competition
ADDITIONAL NOTES: Many entires in the note section contain "IC TSB" -This stands for Intercooler Technical Service Bulletin and means it was replaced under "recall." Also, sometimes replacement items not in the basic 7 counting fields may be reported and mimic the tabulation style, but are extracurricular
For more information on any of the above items, please use the search function on the forums for thorough, quality answers rather than ask in this thread where they may not be seen.
