Hi all. Just started pulling a home made camper trailer from Boulder to upstate NY. Trailer and contents are about 1000lbs, plus a few hundred pounds of gear in the car itself. 200 miles behind me, and so far so good.

Averaging 31mpg, no swaying or pulling weird in the wind, I can make it up the hills without losing speed, braking doesn't seem too hard.... Guess I'll keep going. Wish me luck.

Im headed to cooperstown, not too far away.

400 miles and all is well.

Worth noting that I put stiffer springs (Jetta wagon) in the back before I loaded all this weight. Do I need to be concerned about the lower spring brackets handling all the extra force?

...also worth noting I had to replace the oil cooler before this trip. Really hoping that's why all my oil blew out through my coolant res, anyway. (All signs point to this being the case, no new oil in the coolant since) just glad it happened before I left Boulder, rather than the middle of the plains somewhere.
