What is this piece of junk called? it broke and I can't find a replacement.
Thanks, I was frantically trying to search before dark as my wife needs the car in the morning. After 30min of searching she beat me to it and found the part. Local auto zone had one in stock thankfully. 20$ and I'm on the road again.Just look up upper hose on a sales site and it will pop up with a part number. I got one through NAPA years ago, but they don’t seem to stock much for them anymore
Elon must have the parts to make them on back order.GlowBugTDI,
Glad you found the coolant part. I've been waiting for this to come back in stock at O'Reilly's........:

Literally! All I did was barely pull on the hose it and it fell off. I had planned to get rid of the whole mess when I manual swap the car. I didn't know it was this brittle or I would have replaced it. It mushed up like carboard. Thankfully the thermostat housing was replaced last year so I don't have to worry about that one.OE part #: 1J0121087B
I snapped the little nubbin off just by nudging my elbow against the hose one time; having the $4 part on hand turns a "sorry, you can't have your car back for another few hours" into three-minute fix.
Coupling for Upper Radiator Hose (A4 ALH Manual)
Coupling for upper radiator hose. Please check yours before ordering to see if this is the correct one for your car....www.idparts.com
How did you intend on getting rid of it? That’s a high point coolant outlet. For some reason the coolant manifold outlet was designed lower than the highest point within the head. That port must flow out and to the radiator to be circulated and cooled.Literally! All I did was barely pull on the hose it and it fell off. Swapping in the one from the manual car. Then it wouldn't be all plastic garbage. To be fair its lasted this long, but you know... one less failure point. How did you intend on getting rid of it? I know the coolant manifolds differ, as well as the steel pipe because of trans cooler, but Doesn’t that coupler pictured go on either setup to incorporate the steam port?Swapping in the one from the manual car. yes it meets up with a "T" coming off the head that pushes coolant back to the coolant reservoir. That being said you can swap it out for the manual set up and It will work the same by getting rod of the T. The manual trans came with 2 different set ups. 1, a plain coolant hose from the rad to the aluminum head flange. 2, A coolant hose on both sides of a plastic bit with a "purge/fill port" in the same spot as the auto's. one end goes to rad, the other goes to the coolant flange on the head.I know the coolant manifolds differ, as well as the steel pipe because of trans cooler, but Doesn’t that coupler pictured go on either setup to incorporate the steam port?
In case that wasn’t a typo, nothing goes TO the coolant flange on the head, everything is coming out. If you’ve seen one without the tee, that’s probably someone’s modification. Not sure what the consequences of deleting that would be, hot coolant/steam from that port would go into the ball and back into the block.yes it meets up with a "T" coming off the head that pushes coolant back to the coolant reservoir. Technically I could keep this set up when swapping the trans by just joining the trans cooler ports together, but I'm not sure I will. If I do I will swap out all the plastic bits for new ones from ID parts.
Correct, I simply meant that the hose connects to the flange on the head.In case that wasn’t a typo, nothing goes TO the coolant flange on the head, everything is coming out.
