Well, Ive been brainstorming the details of this for a while and have finalized a design and secured my hardware for a first run. It came to me a couple months ago after a want for a short shifter on my own MK3 TDI, and one dark and stormy night I mocked up the first prototype and have since honed the design to my and a few guinea pigs' liking.

MUAHAHAHAHAH!

Since dieselgeek stopped making a product about 2 years ago there really has been nothing available (other than hacking your shift lever) for a short shifter for an 02A transmission. I have received a patent for my product to protect my idea, which is unique to other approaches previously and currently available.

Application
This will fit all MK3 or B4 with ANY O2A transmission; TDI or VR6.
I am currently looking at Corrado and MK4 early type as well.
Throw will be reduced by roughly 28%
Is constructed of mild steel, painted. Includes grade 10.9 Hardware.

Availability
I hope to have a first run completed in a week once I have time to set up some tooling and write up a formal instruction.

Installation
This is the BEST part! Install will only take 15 minutes for a mildly skilled person and is completely reversable to stock form in the same amount of time if desired.

Price
A kit with all neccesary hardware included will cost $70

I will post a formal thread in the group buy section once the product IS actually available.

I have had one on my car for about 3 months now with nothing by improved shifter action, along with 3 other test cars.

The adaptor bolts to the shift tower linkage, and changes the mounting point of the fore-aft cable for reduced throw.

I also reduced the shift weight to about half of the stock weight to give a more "snappy" and repsonsive feel. If too much wieght is taken away, shifter feels very notchy.

Ill post up a picture of one this week when I have a chance.

Haha, Jeff, I was already thinking of you. We had this conversation once....something about a row boat?

I hope to have a few dozen ready by the end of this week.

Hmmm-maybe you should try to go to Ho5G GTG later this month and install some there. Might be interested-should be an easy sell in case the car craps out.

Here is a pic of version 1.0, which has changed slightly, but you get the idea.

Me TWO...

I'll buy TWO, my son and I both have B4's and would enjoy a shorter, snappier, shift.

An alternative for us "Po' folks" out there! I will take one too, See you at HO5G. Hopefully this one measures up to the DG SS, which are apparently worth more than gold, whoever gets it better enjoy those pricey shifts

OK, Ill bring plenty with my.....I honestly dont know what the throw reduction was on the diesel geek unit. What I do know for sure, this is a fraction of the price and WAAAY easier to install.

Demand is always there at a lower price. The parts I made for the earlier cars just got too expensive since they were based on VW parts.

Roger that, for the right price, demand can change drasticly. I also looked at using some oem pieces of hardware and saw that would have been more expensive than every other component of the kit.....combined!

Ive bought and installed plenty of dieselgeek's products and will continue to for my customers.
