I'm repainting my 1983 VW PICKUP. I've got a few upgrade parts that I've been collecting for years that will go on with the repaint. One of which I was hoping to install was a set of mk1 fender flairs. The parts and truck is now in new paint. The front flairs fit perfectly but the rears haven't been thoroughly diagnosed yet but the painter says they have major fitment issues. I'll be looking myself soon and get some pictures. I have tried to find pictures of other Pickups with flairs . They aren't uncommon but just no up close detail.. What I can tell is the front of the rear flairs have a strange notch. Like I said I will have to put hands  on and get pictures

Where there slight variables on these mk1 flairs? I thought they were very interchangeable among all mk1?

All input appreciated

I ended up using Mk1 Jetta rear flares on my pickup. Minor trimming at the front of the flairs to make them fit flush to the bedside. They fit the contours of the truck better.
Sorry, no pics as the truck got totaled.

I believe the pickup rear ones are different. My 1980 has flairs, I'll have to take a look at them and see what they look like.

Apprriciated input. I never realized there were (1) cabriolet painted, (2) Cabriolet non painted (3] Rabbit unpainted, and (4) aftermarket. If the Rabbit set will work with the rears trimmed to match, I've got some work to do

Luckly Other than the one set of (Rabbit) flairs that were painted I had stashed an extra set of rears I can modify.

I'll try to get more specific pictures today

Painter attempting to make sense of these flairs. I opted to wait and figure them out at home. Note; This was a front or possibly a backwards rear flair he was attempting to fit up to the passenger rear

Were they factory pickup option?

Looks good so far. You sure don't see many trucks around here. Yes, the flairs were factory on some models. I would think the Rabbit rears are different than a truck because the way the rear flairs in on the Rabbit whereas the truck is more straight.
In the early 90's I had a truck with a 2.0l gas 8 valve from an Audi. It was red with all the GTI parts on it. I had a euro front bumper and made a metal roll pan for the rear (no bumper).

The east coast must really eat them up. It seems older VWs must have been particularly susceptible to rust.(?) I would really love to find a set of rear Pickup flairs but will probably have to modify something that is close?

Full set of (I believe early unpainted Rabbit)

One stumped painter LOL

Here's the two spare (I believe to be early unpainted Rabbit)

Waiting for the flairs and tonneau hinge install after painting.
