I am swapping my 1998 jetta AHU TDI into my 1983 Caddy. I'm trying to document everything. I used the discussion from geardriven's: "and onto the wiring" here is a link to my youtube videos where i did the wiring and then cranking my engine and working out the instrument cluster wiring:

Where are you at on your swap?
I have the truck and I'm building the ahu. 😂
I have a 1980 early westy and it had a rod knock, and tons of blowby, and so I'm rebuilding the ahu, going to be sending the head off to Franko6 to get it ported and polished. Other than that right now it's just waiting on time.

Went through the mk3 cluster and figured it all out. I’m going to have to get creative with the mounting of this cluster into the MK1 dash. I ordered the trans mounting brackets from S&P on Thursday . I’m now ready to pull this engine for the swap.

Looks like fun! I think I'm going to be using the caddy cluster, if I can. I got the brackets and just found a cable clutch conversion kit. Currently building up the parts stash for it.

I'm just starting an AHU into a MK1 swap. You are using a cable clutch on a hydraulic trany?
Or with the MK1 020 trany.
Because the MK1 swap to hydraulic master looks pretty easy.
Just weld a bracket to the clutch peddle.
