How many Missouri members are on here. Especially Springfield area members. I'm new to the VW TDI world but not too diesels and diesel performance. Looking to make quite a few upgrades to the Wife's 99 New Beetle in the near future. That is after I get the power windows and locks to working again. :D

Lake of the Ozarks here. Owning an interference motor have its requirements. The TB/Waterpump/Pulleys upgrade is first order of business or the rest is just wasted $. Welcome to the #1 source of accurate information and good company.

I saw the updated belt kit with the pulleys and all on Dieselgeeks website. Looks like I have some tools to buy in order to do that job myself. But more tools is always a good thing. :D The previous owner had the belt changed about 40,000 miles ago but from the looks of his receipt the belt was all he had changed so I have a complete update kit in my plans. Along with either PP520 or Sprint 520 injectors and a Gator tune unless Frank06 has access to rocketchip. I'd also like to do a 5th gear change since it seems to turn a few too many rpms at 70 mph.

Another TDI'er here, I'm in Nevada, MO. I'm a little under two hours from Springfield. Whenever you get ready for your Gator tune, let me know, I travel around quite a bit so could possibly meet you part way or even meet you at Frank's place when you get the PP520's or Sprints installed.

Cheers,
Ben

Frank Irving (Franko6 not Frank06) is going to be one of your new best friends. Talk to him about your timing belt plans and your injector nozzle plans. He tested my old PP520 nozzles at the GTG in Milwaukee a few months ago, discovered that they were in much worse condition than I imagined, and installed a balanced set of new ones. What he does is not magic, but it is impressive.

Des Peres, MO, suburb of St. Louis. CarDoc Automotive (Oilhammer) has been my choice for maintenance items outside of my skill set. Timing Belt was not due on my 02 wagon for another 12K, he recommended changing sooner because water pump was making swooshing noise, and also a dealer had done TB/WP at 90K. Found three of four main crank bolts botched upon inspection prior to change out. Quite possibly saved my motor!

I live in Grain Valley Just 20 minutes east of Kansas city, with frequent trips to Springfield and Branson. Boy I love those Branson hills!

Sounds like Branson might be the place to meet and eat!

Well I don't have a TDI anymore (about 5 years), but have still been the gathering place for fall GTG here 'bouts.

See you next fall at the GTG if creeks don't rise and politicians don't screw things up any worse.

You are definitely underestimating the politicians....

Brass and lead are precious metals, and while not quite as valuable as gold alone, they are worth more when combined with gunpowder.

True but when the nasty little bugger's get too many in the 'hood they start forays into the our storage area's just like rats will. I hate it when I have to squirrel hunt in the back yard, no adventure in that except not being too obvious to the neighbors. ;)

Same here on the ammo. Old Navy I'm in your area from time to time. My Mother still lives in Dexter. Branson would make a great gtg place. They have an Andy's there as well as Chesters. Our house burnt last Friday so we are going to be kind of busy for a while but hopefully things settle down a little eventually. We will be building back on our farm. I might also mention that we have two Ozark Blackout Events at Ozark Raceway Park every year. We have a dyno on site as well as drag racing and sled pulling. My fifth wheel puller and horse hauler runs in the 12s in the 1/4. It's what got me started on diesels.
