Hi, have you got any further with this. I sent you a breakdown of the strip down.
I would be interested to know how to test it now I have stipped it down. I have put power direct to the motor & it work OK ?

I had the flapper motor this past summer after I replaced the glow plugs for steel. VW also re programmed for the steel plugs. I am fining more & more a problem starting when cold, even when I have plugged in for several hours with Zero temp. I cycle plugs 2 to 3 times to help but still hard starting. Any suggestions.

Something to try

I had my 1st Intake Flap Motor malfunctioning MIL (19559/P3103) last year shortly after my B2B waranty expired. A few days later, after finding out it was not covered under the PT waranty, this MIL went away.

The same MIL came back this past summer in August. I put up with the MIL for about 1 month because it did not affect my car performance or driveability. It was just a little annoying with the MIL but the car was working fine. One day, I decided open up the Intake Flap Motor to see if I can see anything dirty or sticky etc. It was nice and clean, the plastic gears seemed fine. There was nothing I could do but making the 2 electrical contacts better. Well, I lucked out. The MIL went off a few drives later and it has been off for almost 3 months now. So, if you do have this MIL and your vehicle seems to be running fine, try this. It takes 15 minutes.

Thanks for posting with the pictures! This newbie didn't know where it was but your pictures helped out. I took the cover off and noticed some engine oil came out. I don't think it's a good thing to have oil in there. I cleaned it out with some electrical cleaner and put it back together again. I did rig it up so it would power up with the cover off. I turned the ignition switch on and noticed it cycling open and closed. It seemed to be working without any drag. I covered it back up and cleared the emission code. I'll cross my fingers and hope it doesn't come up again. Thanks again for the info.

sidsnot, sounds like your gp's may not be latest version. the latest are the 7v ngk's ceramic and definitely, with the proper reflash improve starting. why were the steel sheathed plugs not replaced with the ngk's?

I am now having the same MIL code, according to the dealer, and they want $500 to replace it, part and labor.

That is a great write up.

Where is the Intake Flap Motor located on the '06 Jetta TDI?

Thanks!

Just a followup. After i took mine apart and cleaned the oil that was in there...the check engine light hasn't come back on. It's been 2 weeks now. The dealer wanted $1400 to repair it.

Sorry,

I did a search for the Intake Flap motor and did not pay attention to the thread being in the Passat TDI.

I posted in A5 Jetta section.

Wouldn't the motor be in the same place since it is a 1.9 PD diesel?

Thanks!

When you say "resetting the learned values" are you just talking clearing the DTC's and seeing if it works?

Sorry for bringing this old post back to the present.

Dan

Check the throttle body for gunk build up first. If it is really bad, try cleaning, then resetting the learned values, and see if the DTC returns. If not, you're golden. If it does, you will need a new throttle body.

I do realize this is an older post, and that the links to that pdf file with pictures may have changed. By chance, does anyone still have this file that 05passatTDI had? Does it cover the '06 Beetle tdi?
