came across this OEM oil G055512A2 , does anybody know if this can be used in MK7 6 speed manual 02Q and why is it so much cheaper than the recommended G052527A2?

it says G055512A2 is for the 02M ( MK6) vs G052527A2 for 02Q, how are these two 6 speed transmission different?

What the specific differences is in the OEM branded fluids, I am not exactly sure. One says "gear oil", the other says "high performance gear oil". And many (most) of the aftermarket quality brands specify the same fluid for both applications.

The difference in price, especially given how little is needed for a change and how infrequently that change is needed, amounts to a very small dollar difference and really is not that big of a deal. If it is, you probably are driving the wrong kind of car. However, I do agree that the difference in price for the OEM branded fluid is a bit of a head scratcher.

Generally, unless something flat wasn't available in one of the trusted aftermarket brands (Pentosin, Liquimoly, Motul, etc.), I wouldn't go after the OEM branded stuff anyway, as Volkswagen tends to mark that stuff up a lot and they obviously source it from someone else. I've gotten OEM fluid before that was in a bottle that clearly had a Texaco logo on the cap.

the first oil is like $11-12 per liter the other is 4 times as much. I agree that in the normal circumstances Id just get the recommended oil and forget about it. But I am experiencing some crunch between 1st and 2nd gear in one of my MK7 Golfs, sometimes it make it difficult to even put in 1st or reverse, only when cold though, and then it smoothes out and behaves normal once it warms up. I tried changing the gear oil with the recommended G052527A2 and then Motul Gear 300 which didnt really make a difference. The reason I asked is that I wanted to try the cheaper G055512A2 that I am probably gonna ditch anyway, but I wasnt sure since its for the 02M, dont wanna make it worse, but both are GL4 I think. Or maybe REDLINE MT-LV? I know some folks in MK7GTI world used the REDLINE with no probs.

Well if you are trying to fix a problem with fluid, then certainly no harm in trying something cheaper but it likely is something more sinister than what fluid will fix by the sounds of it.

Read through that link, you may find some info there relating to your specific problem. I know the guys I know that mess with them tell me they are in no way as good as the old 02J 5sp was when it comes to durability. Of course, they are also jagging a boat load more power through them, too.

Heres a question, got about 370k kms, no issues shifting or anything. Never changed the 6speed fluid though. Should I even bother changing it since I'm not having issues or should just leave it until I start noticing some changes in shifting. I dont wanna touch it if I dont need to and cause some issues.

The synchro packs in the newer 02Q are all steel with some sort of lining on the face of the middle ring vs the synchro packs of the 02M that use brass outer rings and a steel middle ring without that lining. Here's a comparison pic
Maybe something to do with tighter clearances as it warms up and is able to do its job better?

As for the different fluid types, according to the erWin manual there was a "reinforced" version of the MQ350. Your dealer should be able to verify which one you have via the VIN. I know in mine, it had welded steel shift forks from factory vs brass forks. Possibly some other differences, but I do know mine uses the cheaper fluid. Always have purchased from the dealer, and seems to work ok in my warmer climate.
