Has anyone done this yet? Tips and tricks anyone? Recommended mileage for change?

There are two oils for the 6-speeds, run your VIN to make sure you get the right one.

As an US expert wrote once wrote me, even though VAG claims the Oil is filled for ever, the best way to preserve Your tranny is to run no more than 800<1500 miles before change. All residues from production and running etc. in will be flushed out - then You can relax.

Any recommendations on the mileage at which this is done?

This is on my list of things to do, along with a brake fluid flush. I did notice these 2015 have a different size plug, actually it might be triple square or a huge torx, can't remember.

Tip: Open the fill plug before you open the drain plug, gotta make sure you can fill it back up first

I used to change gear oil every 100K miles but having experienced some pretty filthy oil shortly after a 100K mile change, I now like to do it every 60K miles or so.

I am at 260K and still on the original oil. The transmission does not leak and shifts fine. But I think it's time to replace the oil, no reason to risk it.

There are just too many to list....
The change was in 2013 (according to ETKA), so yours would be the later fluid. The 1 liter bottle is G-052-527-A2.

Some of the later manual gearboxes have a tamper-proof type 12pt socket, if yours has that, you'll need that tool. Otherwise, it'll have the same 17mm Allen we've known for decades.

Beyond that, it is a simple drain and fill, and I always remove the roll mount from the gearbox case and tilt it back so I can get a wee bit more fluid in there. If you have the car's front axle on ramps, and the rear axle on the ground, that will do the same thing.

I've always changed the gear oil with the car on ramps and it does take more that way.

Back in my B4 days I changed the gear lube every 100k miles. Times were simpler back then. G50, a full synthetic 75W-90 was all one needed. I never did chang the gear lube in my 2014. It had 108k miles on it when I sold it back to VW. I don't know much about the G52 gear lubes except that those also are 100% synthetic and I believe around a straight 75W.
