MAF and exhaust pressure sensor 1

So I have an odd issue. A muskrat got into my engine bay and decided to tear apart my battery cover and hood foam above the battery. I now also have a check engine light for MAF and exhaust pressure sensor 1. The MAF wiring was chewed through. Not sure about the other sensor wiring yet.

2 questions:
1, Anything special about the MAF wiring? Can I just cut it out and splice in new wire via solder? Also what are the correct readings for the wires?

2. Where do the exhaust pressure sensor 1 wires go? Also I’m getting conflicting info that there is 1 or 2 sensor locations. Looking for clarification.

The correct repair procedure (as outlined by the manufacturer) is heat shrink crimp connectors, not solder. VAG has a nice big kit, usually just called "the tackle box" that every dealer has, but you can source the good connectors elsewhere, but they do require a specific type of crimp tool.

This is the type I use:

Amazon.com: Master Appliance Pro Crimping Tool for Electric Wire Connectors - Ratcheting Wire Crimper - Crimping Pliers - Wire Crimp Tool for Heat Shrink Connectors (35084) : Arts, Crafts & Sewing

Look for connectors that say "marine grade".

The G450 is the EGR pressure sensor, the one under the space blanket in a bracket screwed to the valve cover, near the oil fill cap. The wires to it run across the top of the engine, link in with the vane position sensor, and some other connectors.

Thanks for the info and help. Just ordered connectors, wire, and the crimp tool off Amazon. Will fix what I know is broken and will look around for anything tied to the g450 sensor that may be broken as well.

As of now I know the MAF, G450, and lower right fog light is having issues. Just hope I don’t find anything else to messed up as well.

Thanks for the detailed description. Very easy to identify. I didn’t see anything wrong with those wires at all. Wonder if the MAF issue could also cause the other code?

However, I did find two other locations near the air box (below the air box) that had bare copper showing (saw from below). Going to take that out and see what was destroyed. So frustrating. Never had any animal get into any of my vehicles before.

Update. I was wrong. It’s not my headlight plug. Saw the shape and assumed. Here is a pic from above with airbox removed.
On the black harness pin 14 (brown yellow stripe) is damaged. Pin 11 is broken (black)

anyone know what those colors go to?

Well at this point, I'd not concern yourself with what wires go to what, just pull it apart and repair what all you find broken, clear all the DTCs, and see how it goes.

FYI, brown is ground... just remember, dirt, earth, ground, etc.

If the fog light is having 'issues' I would check the ground locations not limiting it to just the one light.
Check and clean the negative battery cable and all points it connects to.
If the body ground cable is bad then everything that grounds to the body is bad.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for all the help. Got all wires repaired. All check engine lights have cleared and the fog light works.

to summarize
- fog light wire was chewed through 1/2” from connector near light bulb
- maf wires all damaged and repaired
- ground wire repaired
- two wires from plug bundle near radiator repaired. Black wire (11) controls exhaust pressure sensor. Brown/yellow wire (14) controls n95.

All wires repaired and all working normal.
