Has anyone had any experience with any Lucas Oil Products in a TDI? Especially the oil stabilizer or the upper cylinder lubricant? I work in the heavy duty trucking industry and I am in a fair amount of trucking dealerships and I work with many different trucking fleets. It is amazing how much those guys believe in the Lucas Oil products in terms of protecting their engines and improving fuel economy.

I am tempted to give them a try and see what the results are, but I am concerned about potential problems that may arise.

Search.

There was a thread about their synthetic oils recently.

My TDI gets the Fuel Injector/upper cylinder lube every 5k, PS the rest of the time.

Their PS leak stuff is hard to beat.

I've also had some success in other brand's auto tranny's with their product for that.

And I run their oil stabalizer in my air cooled VW's and riding lawn mowers.

Ozzmosis, if you read some of the dozens of oil-related posts in the "Fuel and Lubricants" area, you'll probably come to the conclusion that there are no benefits to using anything but 507 approved oil...except to the company that is selling these products...IMHO, of course. I'm not questioning the quality of any additives, just stating that they're of little benefit.
Multiple UOAs are showing that the VW CR engine (09>>>) is doing very well using 507-spec oil...Castrol, Mobil1ESP, Motul, etc. etc. following the VW recommended 10k mile OCI.
Also, FYI (I know, you didn't ask!), there is no benefit whatsoever to doing an oil change earlier than 10k.
If you can't find what you want locally, there are several trusted vendors here that can ship to you.

For new TDI owners, be very careful what you read here about oil. Pre-2009 VW TDI oil requirements are different than post -2009.

i tried it for a while in my superduty but really didnt notice much of a benefit. i already use mobile full synthetic so not much more i can really due on the oil side. now i do use a fuel lubricant and two stroke oil in my diesel fuel on the superduty to help the injectors and upper portions of the cylinder but the truck does not have a dpf that can get clogged. from my reading though i can not recomend this practice in a vehicle with a dpf system b/c of the risk of clogging the dpf over time.

oil stabilizer is junk. It will aerate the oil (look like dark whipped cream) and will damage the engine & turbo.

upper cylinder lube is really for port injected (gas) and indirect injected diesels.... a UCL won't do much for a direct injection, where fuel is sprayed directly into the combustion chamber
