Hey all! Has anyone used the “Lucas Injector Cleaner and Upper Cylinder Lube” in their TDI before ?? Just wondering how it works I’ve used it in my gasoline engines before but never in my TDI

There are just too many to list....
I've used BG products, as well as LiquiMoly. There's probably some similarity to all the products but I've no experience with Lucas. And in the case of the two I mentioned and use, sometimes they can fix a problem, sometimes not, and in most cases it is more for prevention of a problem in the first place.

Thanks oilhammer. Yeah I’m not having any problems just considered running some through for maintenance

I'm a fan of Marvel Mystery Oil, a liter at fillup reportedly helps keep the pump and injectors clean.
When changing the fuel filter I fill that with Diesel Purge, it helps if you're low on fuel to maximise
the effect as it recirculates through the tank. Not as effective perhaps as running the engine on
straight DP for 20 minutes, but it can't hurt. A catch can coupled with an EGR delete helps the
turbo from coking up.

I was given a gallon of the "Lucas Injector Cleaner and Upper Cylinder Lube" and started double dosing every combustion engine within sight to use it up-including the ALH. I've nothing noticed better or worse on any of the diesels with the Lucas.

I think I recall that the instructions printed on the bottle show a cartoon of crusty valves being sprayed by the product, so it probably has more intended benefit for carbeurated or EFI systems with injectors in the intake tract.

Diesel injector cleaner is different than a formula made for gas engines.

Thanks for the replies ! Ya the bottle says diesel and gas that’s what got me wondering.
If it says it’s works for diesel and gas, the product is likely not very effective for either.

Gasoline injector cleaners have detergents and solvents like PEA. Diesel cleaners would contain xylene and other hydrocarbons for removing injector deposits.

I don't think I want to put anything called "Mystery" in my engine. I do however fill my fuel filter canister with LiquiMoly at every filter change.
