After a few weeks of not being able to ship due to parts availability, we now have the Cat 2 micron filter kit back in stock and ready to ship. Since 2002 this kit has been a standard. We have sold over 1200 kits, that in it's self shows the quality and reliability of the kit.

Their has been many improvements in that time. In the beginning we had some issues with air leakage around the thermostatic tee. But that was resolved years ago and as long as you use the o-rings we provide and your tee is in good shape you should have no issues.

Remember we have Fumoto Valves for the TDI as well as Amsoil lubricants.

I love mine! You can go well over 60K miles on a single filter and it protects your fuel pump to boot!

I know it's a straight-forward install, but could you post some pics?

Thanks

Greg Nice improvements in the design.
I have been using one of the earlier ones for about 100,000km. I'm on my second R1-0750 filter. This is a great Mod.

I did some double checking and it will be a drop in fit for all NB thru 2006, Jetta, Golf thru 2005. The easiest way to tell if it will fit is look at the existing filter and see if it has the thermostatic tee. If it does it will fit.

Of course it will work in conjunction with the newer PD filter if put in series and you will have to figure out how to mount it.

Does anyone have a picture of how your mounting works and looks installed so I can get a better view of it?

No we don't, but all that needs done is run a 1/4npt tap through the hole and plug. If you don't have the tap we can do it for you.

Greg
This leaves about 10% thread engagement and I am unable to plug this port doing this. I need to machine up some parts to get myself back on the road... Plug turned right through the existing hole after tap was only started in.

We have done several this way without issue. You are correct about bot having full threads, but we had more than 10%. Also we just put 4 or 5 threads in and then let the pipe plug do the rest. Use a good thread sealer not tape and it works fine. Since its a vacuum system having 100% thread is not necessary.

I ended up boring it out to 9/16" and used a proper O-ring gland in the plug I put in there. My guess is that the early model I have had a little larger hole for the O-rings to seal in.

Thanks

Looking for a Jetta
New Supplier for Cat filter

I called Lubrication Specialist and they don't carry the filter any more. Is there a new supplier?

Are you looking for just a replacement filter? If so it's a CAT 1R-0750, available at many heavy duty equipment suppliers, truck parts suppliers, online, etc.

If you're looking for a kit similar to the Lubrication Specialties one, try Nicktane (http://nicktane.com/osc/). Their kit is functionally the same.
