Low sulfur diesel fuel - how can you tell?

I'm new to the TDI world and my 2012 VW Jetta SportWagen manual says to use only "low sulfur diesel". At the fuel station or pump, I rarely see this language used. The staff inside has no idea.
The web hits I get from searches offer "fuel #2", "synergy diesel" "efficiency diesel" etc.
How can I guarantee I'm filling up with the right fuel?

even home heating oil and off road diesel is now ULSD, not saying that you'd put that devils mixture in your tank, but it won't hurt it.

Just as a data point, ULSD was introduced in 2006 and became *mandatory* for all highway diesel fuel suppliers in both the US and Canada by 2010.

Yup, the peeling ULDS stickers on pretty much every pump in North America are going on 15 years old. :)
