Just drove the new Golf TDI. What a great car! I like the sporty feel to it.

I agree, it would have been nice if the offered a base model at around $18,000

Yep, the cheapest TDI on the VW site is about $23k

The car I drove had a DSG trans. The engine is quieter than a gas engine when you drive it. The power is smooth through all gears when accelerating. It handles almost as well as a GTI. You can't tell the engine is running at idle.

Did you experience any "hurky-jerky" DSG activity in low gears like many people report? Sounds from your description it was pretty smooth-sailin'.

No different than any other DSG I have driven. DSG's are quite unique, you need to get used to them.
