Totalled my TDI and ended up with a 12V VR6 car. Swapped from auto to manual and everything works, except cruise. Anybody local with wiring info that could help me? I'll drive to you and pay for your time. Really want to get this thing lined out. Thanks in advance :)

What did VCDS tell you in measuring blocks?

WV is a big state, so you may consider letting people know where you are in general.

Its not difficult. You need to add a new wire for the clutch switch (add the switch too). Or you can wire the brake and clutch switches together-parallel (but motor will race away this way when you press clutch in during cruise.

Sometimes the trace on the inner radius of the ribbon feeding the cruise button brakes, and you can jump 2x pins in the ecu to feed 12v constant (always on). I fix many CC problems on transplants and project cars. You may also recode to auto maps, and cc works, but gives faults for missing TCM, no big deal if you just need it for a trip once and a while.

Wouldn't you have a problem with this set up as well? Cruise not canceling when hitting brakes?

I would think they would need to be in series (vs parallel). if you try to tie it in with the brake cruise-cancel switch.

No the brake switch is always active and the clutch switch is missing. The ecu needs to see some ocassional switch activiity on the clutch input, if not it is disabled. If the clutch switch failed you would want it disabled, cuz motor would race away - at least until you mashed the brake pedal.

You just have to remember not to burp the clutch pedal while in cruise. I never recommend this, but mention it only because it works and is a lazy mans fix. I always recommend adding the correct clutch switch and running the wire to the missing pin, and also cut off the edge of the large brake pedal or use the manual brake pedal. Do the job right or don't do it.\

Another poor man's fix is jumper the 12v enable (2 pins in the ecu) so the cc is always on. I do this on conversions and boats, and gen sets, projects, etc. This way all you need is a momentary switch and interrupt switch (no others).

I'm in Huntington, but I'll drive wherever. Brake switch, clutch switch, and reverse light switch are properly wired in. In the DIYS there is mention of a wire from the tcm to the ecu. That is what I cannot figure out.

If you can make the drive over to Harrisonburg VA we can get that fixed for you. We have done many swaps in different kinds of cars both gas and diesel. Should be about a 4 hour drive from Huntington.
