Just got a new 2010 Jetta TDI. I live in Imperial (by the airport, sorta).

Does anyone who lives out this way have the vagcom? I need to turn on the Bluetooth menu in my new 2010.... I have the code to do it. Not sure why VW doesn't send them out this way!

I'm looking for a TDI mechanic to do Timing Belt, I'm an hour north west of Pittsburgh. Any suggestions?

You're probably near "growler" he should be able to help you. He posts in here and his handle is growler, check him out. Other wise I have a fellow about 1 hour south east of the burgh. Seems to far for you!

Growler is about 4 1/2 hours from me, so south of pittsburgh would probably be closer.

Saying hi from Morgantown WV, there is no "south of Pburgh" for TDI work.

You sure about that? Just because he is not in the trusted mechanics area doesn't mean he is not there. Jamie knows as much about all vw/audi as most on here know about there model tdi and that is giving alot of credit to most, no offense! If that fellow would like to give Jamie a call his number is 724-267-3555 or if he would like to listen to "wvutdi" then he doesn't exist.:D

PS Be patient Jamie is terribly busy but he will fit you in!

Hey guys,

Just wanted to let everyone know I took my 2k Jetta TDI with 97K miles to Jamie and he did an awesome job... new fuel filter, new clutch, intake cleanup and oil change... not to mention Pete tuned it and it flies now... last mileage was close 700 miles with the vent trick, about 46 mpg combined, not to mention the extra power... feels like I got a new car after 9+ years

Thanks Jamie and Pete... i highly recommend them.

Anyone have a VAG-COM in the "norther" Pittsburgh, or north of pittsburgh area? I need to have my injector timing checked and a little help with adjusting it. THANKS

Hey guys, what's the best online resource to find nearby fuel stations in this area? I live right in the city, in Oakland, and the GetGo that I normally frequent is closed for construction. I know about Baum Blvd Automotive, but obviously it's too cold out to buy bio without mixing it down and I'm almost empty.

Speaking of almost empty, on a related topic, where in Pittsburgh can I purchase a small fuel can? You know, something durable and plastic that's the right color to not get yelled at by a gas station employee. I'd like to get one and keep a small amount of fuel around for times like this.

Thanks in advance on both counts! :)

Sounds like you're in the east end area (Oakland / Shadyside / etc. Unless it closed, there was a Pepboys between Baum and Center.... you could pick up a can there.

Diesel in that area......hmmm.....not sure. I try to not fill up in that area becuase all fuel tends to run a bit higher there.....

Plus, my RNS-510 navi shows me where all the diesel stations are.

The getgo website lists which station carry Diesel if you do a search for stations. I am in Lawrenceville, and I have the same problem... I think the closest, at least for me, is out on Freeport rd, near Harmer.

I don't fill up often, and when I do I try to do so outside of Pennsylvania. When I have to fill up here (usually just enough to get me out of state), I stop at the GetGo on Frankstown. Turnpike stations often have comparable prices, sometimes not.

Hi Dave, what do you teach down here? I'm actually out of school (finished up my accounting masters in august) but I'm still living there getting ready to start work.

Just thought I would announce that I will be moving back to the Pittsburgh Area after being away in the military and other jobs for 11 years. So some of you might see another TDI running around currently with Ohio Plates 2 weeks from now.

You get your brakes done yet?

Any wrenchers around Pittsburgh that would be willing to help/teach me on a rear pad/rotor and brake fluid job?

I'm eager to learn and become more comfortable working on my car. I don't have the tools or space but would provide parts and would be willing to pay a sum similar to what I would pay someone else to do it.

Hey PGH locals... Anyone have a flywheel job / clutch work done near pittsburgh?

I'm been hearing a rattling sound when I release my clutch in neutral for some time now and am starting to worry about it more and more..

Wondering what you think I should expect to spend on this type of job aswell...

In another thread I described my symptoms and a couple people said that maybe the DMF / fly wheel was going out, and that changing the clutch at the same time was a good idea...

What are your thoughts...

Thanks!

I had my clutch/flywheel done this past spring at German Motor Works in the Strip Dist. I bought the parts online and took it to them. I recommend highly, but they can be pricey.

I just had my done by Growler (Aaron) last week (Nov 21). I drove out to Columbus and had him do it (along with my TB and WP). Much cheaper than any local shops and more knowledgeable with our cars than most shops would be.......very fair price. I got the G60/VR6 setup in mine to replace my DMF. I would recommend him if you can drive out to Columbus and spend the night.

It rattles a bit more at idle in neutral with the clutch engaged. Not too bad but defiantly noticeable.

Pulling out of a dead stop in 1st is much better.....none of that vibration / hesitation / feeling that it's going to slip that I felt with the DMF. It’s a lot betting when starting out uphill as well. Also, no more vibration on my foot / weird sound when pressing the clutch pedal.

I just took a 1,000 round trip to Raleigh, NC and back and everything is running great.
