Hey all,

What types of preventative maintenance or future maintenance parts do you think would be helpful/will you buy with the goodwill program?

Here's my list so far for my 2010 Golf (will cover my maintenance up to 110k, minus fluids).

Splash Shield Front Bolt (5) N10354602
Splash Shield Rear Bolt (3) 1K0825951
Oil Filter (3) 071115562C
Fuel Filter 1K0127434B
Cabin Air Filter 1K1819653B
Rear Wiper Blade 5K6955427A

Other items considering:

OEM LED Interior Kit 5K0052122
Lock Lubrication Spray G052778A2

I thought about getting new Monster Mats, but if its just for the Driver's mat (with a small hole) it's not worth it.

What do you think? What more obscure parts are going to fail in the future? :p

The replacement intake manifold, is about $300.

Map updates for RNS, $99

I'm thinking alignment and tire balance, about $130?

Underseat drawers?

I'll probably be pricing out some tiguan springs or similar. Failing that I might stockpile oil, as filters and such are much cheaper at german auto parts online. No hazmat shipping fees!

Passat Aluminum Lower Control Arms: 3C0407151E or 3C0407151G (I think) work, imagine SuperPro Supaloy arms without the bushing kit. I think I saw 189$ per somewhere... I've got a bent LCA so I guess it's time to go aluminum.

I think I might have to spend it on a new blower motor, mine is chirping like a box of crickets. Kind of disappointing at only 55k miles.

I might spend it on snow tires instead. Possibly a second key fob. Or maybe the parts to do the service on the DSG.

Probably about 200 lbs of bolts. Or whatever else we need around here - it'll cover most of a days order from the dealer... ;)

You realize you can buy used ones from a junk yard for around $20. I bought the passat knuckles and control arms and replaced all the bushings for less than half of one new arm from the dealer. Try car-part.com
I realize the junkyard isn't "free money" but you should find higher value parts like Golf R/S3 intercoolers.

Did you get your dealer to order your map? I went to the parts counter and they acted like map updates were through a 3rd party.

Here is my parts order, so far:

Quantity - Part number - Description

1 - G 060 172 A3 - Life Grease (sunroof seals)
1 - G 060 751 A2 - Paste (sunroof lube)
1 - 1K9 955 427 - Rear Wiper Blade
2 - 1K0 127 434 A - Fuel Filter
4 - 071 115 562 C - Oil Filter
1 - 1K0 129 620 D - Eng. Air Filter
1 - 1K1 819 653 B - Cabin Air Filter
1 - 000 096 311 C - Window Washer Fluid
1 - 3C0 061 795 9B9 - Mat clips round
1 - 1K9 061 195 - Rear Bumper Protector Plate (I have a wagon)
1 - 1K1 857 919 D 71N - Storage Tray Drivers Side (why not, its pretty cheap)
1 - 1K1 858 365 AF 71N - Storage Tray trim piece (required for part above)

I decided not to order: 1K0 054 630 B - Park Distance Control (too much money for a car with an unknown future). (~$355)

and, I am sure that I will need, before my year is up: 1 - 000 915 105 DGDSP - Battery 72 ah

The total for all of this (at my nearest dealer's online prices) will be about $450. I am certain that another $50 worth of incidentals will come up within a year.

Have Fun!

Don

I am not sure how obscure they are, but there are 2 relatively common failure parts on the 2009 - 2014 TDIs that I already have spares for. These are the little differential pressure sensor that is used in 2 places in our emissions system and a glow plug. I have one of each sitting on a shelf in my garage.

The pressure sensor is p/n 076 906 051 A - for 2009 cars (CBEA) and 076 906 051 B - for 2010+ (CJAA engines).
The Glow plug for all 2009-2014 is p/n: 03L 905 061 F

Have Fun!

Well, I lost one of my Key FOBs a while back and need to get it replaced (lost as in damaged, I know where it is). Was thinking of using my goodwill card to get a replacement at the minimum. Haven't decided what to use the rest of it for.

So far, I bought wiper blades (f & r), cabin air filter, and a MDI -> USB cable for additional music library capacity.

Rest of the money will probably be spent on additional maintenance items - oil, filters, etc.

Although, my dealer didn't swipe my my dealer-only card, but instead manually entered the numbers on the back as a VISA card, and it went through...so I'm wondering whether it *really* has to be used at a VW dealership. Hmmmmm......

I just got new snow tires. Continental winter contact
While buying tires with "free" money is good, couldn't you have got them cheaper elsewhere, like online? Never bought tires at a dealer so I don't really know.

I usually overthink these things. Every time I get a rebate in the form of a Visa card (instead of a check), I think I have to hold it until I find something really good I wouldn't have bought otherwise. :)

They were only slightly more than tire rack, and I really didn't need anything else.

Not sure if its happening at other dealers but mine is price matching tires right now and doing free mount and balance when buying 4 tires. I just had them put on 4 Continental extreme contact DWS06 tires today...great tires so far. The tires were orig $138 a piece and I had them price match a local shop for $112...I think tirerack has them for $108...not a huge difference. If you look around on your dealers website you may find some of these things...when I went in to order the tires last week the service guy had no idea they were doing free mount/balance until the end of the month...that saved me $100! I still cant believe they get away with charging that much to mount and balance tires!!!

Mine was only going to charge me $60 with lifetime rotation. I would have done it except I have a friend working at a tire shop that does it for free( beer)

$25 to mount and balance a tire? No wonder people buy their tires at tire shops!

Depending on VWs fix, I'm thinking 500 on a Malone tune, the other 500 dealer card on some nice tires, maybe chrome exhaust tips since my TDI didn't come with them for some reason. Maybe use it toward that votex spoiler.

Let's try to keep this thread on topic. There is another thread (or more) here about how I spent my VW "goodwill" money. Please keep this thread about your "list of dealer parts to order" not about how I spent my money. If we make this thread just like the other one, it will get locked or merged with the other ones. If we can keep this thread on-topic and it will remain relevant (and open).

Have Fun!

I have my list, ditto on most of the above:
Oil filters (X2) $27 (price guesses)
Fuel Filter (x1) $32
Air Filter (x1) $27
Cabin Filter (x1) $20
Oil Castor Oil 507 (x10L liters) $120
DSG Oil/Filter Kit 02E305051C (x1) $130
Rear Wiper* (x1) $25
TOTAL about $260.... + tax = less than $300; Still have bucks left over.
Don't want to have too much stuff to store. This will be two about years of stuff.

*(Front wipers are now available at Wal-Mart, good brand. Already have spares from IDparts.)

I'm saving my money in case I need it when/if they do a buy-back. I'm not going to put much into this car except for doing reg. maint.

I'm also holding out for the same reason. But I'm honestly not holding my breath for a buyback. It seems very unlikely, but there is still a small chance.

We'll find out for sure in the next couple of months how VW will proceed.

I got my cards in the mail over the weekend, but if you're talking about saving the dealer-only credit, that's only good for a year, right?

We've been burning through our TDI money, we have two and the dealer offered +$100 per car for spending it with them [$1,200 total].

Right now I've bought
2x Cabin, Engine and Oil filters
Golf MK6 rear sunshades [$118]
Jetta MK6 iPhone lightning cable [$65]
Jetta DSG Service [$325]
Jetta A/C evac/recharge [$150, it wasn't working all that great this past Summer, so we had them add Dye too]

That leaves us with a couple hundred, I will hang onto that until October or so in case something pops up. I am going to try to spend $125 on a Nav map update for the Jetta after the first of the year.

Ordered chrome exhaust tips from dealer & they did my 40k service today ($209) which I feel is fair.
BTW ; The other went to Diesel Geek for short shifter & Panzar plate.
