I have a 2011 Jetta TDI(178k Miles now). My car went into limp mode while driving in town, so I got it to the mechanic a couple of days later. When I scanned the codes, it came back as low transmission pressure code(I can't remember the exact code but it is not very important) and P13D6 (sensor for internal pressure of cylinder 3 implausible signal), P13D1 (Sensor for internal pressure of cylinder 2 electrical malfunction) and basically 6 codes relating to glow plug circuit open and internal pressure sensor. The mechanic changed the trans fluid and filter which solved the trans code which never returned. I got all new glow plugs which solved those other problems as well. The car ran very well for ALMOST ONE WHOLE DAY, and I was back into limp mode, this time for P0236 (turbocharger boost sensor 'A' Circuit Range/Performance). I did get the boost sensor replaced and the code never went away. My car struggled to start yesterday night, but after a couple of cranks, it finally started. If I clear the codes, it will drive completely fine unless I romp on it, and then it'll go back into limp. By limp mode, I mean it'll drive, it just takes an unbelievable amount of time to get up to speed, it slows down going up hills and it has a very deep tone from the exhaust. It almost sounds like all the boost is flowing straight out the exhaust. I have noticed, that the Commanded vs Actual Boost Pressure is typically a 2-10 PSI difference which to the best of my knowledge, 3PSI is normal and anything over is not. For whatever reason, I'll let go of my gas pedal, and the actual Boost Pressure will go straight to 43.51 or 43.15 I can't remember exactly but the commanded will stay normal(about 15PSI). I thought it was just a bad sensor because I feel like I would immediately see the effect of 43 PSI if my Boost Pressure was actually 43PSI, but replacing the sensor (Located in between the intercooler boost pipe and the Anti-Shutter Valve/Throttle Body Basically) did not help. Unless I bought a trash one (70-something dollars off of Rock Auto). Anyways, every time I reset my codes, that P0236 code comes back immediately. Sometimes, I will get an over-boost condition code (P0234) or a Wastegate code which I got only once, but I also cannot remember what it was. It just seems like problem after problem with this car and I have definitely put way too much money into it. Anything will help at this point. I am no mechanic, but with instructions and a bit of research, I was able to fix every problem I've had so far (minus the trans cause the DSG has a stupid way of replacing fluid). The electrical connectors and wires looked normal, I did unplug anything turbo-related and blew out the connectors, and to the best of my knowledge, the vacuum lines are fine (no hissing or any bubbles with warm soapy water). It's a good car up until I get any sort of symptom, then it's a headache, and I am the type of person who is bothered unless there are 0 codes. I forgot to mention, the idle sounds bad, not terrible, but also not normal. Sometimes, it'll sound like an uneven idle and other times it'll sound normal. My intercooler boost pipe was unbelievably saturated with oil as well, but after I took it off to access my boost sensor, I cleaned everything, but the inside of the intercooler connector and to the ASV were completely dry so Im also confused about how the boost pipe was completely wet but nothing that it was connected to was wet. After some research, I believe it is normal for it to be wet or drip a bit, I just think mine looked so bad because of the accumulation over time. I spent $400 for trans fluid replacement, almost $900 on 4 Glow Plugs( and also $400 more on the wrong set of glow plugs without an internal pressure sensor which I finally returned today), and $70 on the Boost Pressure Sensor so far. My car has been completely fine until this month basically, I have been just fighting it it seems like. I am the second owner and bought it with issues I fixed already. It had 150-something k miles when I bought it and I've had it for about a year and a half. I'm sure there are plenty more symptoms I'm having but I can't think of any more at the moment. I treat this car way too good for it to be acting like this lmao. Last thing, the glow plug light is flashing and the cel is on. Thank you everyone for any advice!
