I’m scheduled to get this issue diagnosed as this is above my pay grade. The problem is slow acceleration. Can get to 60-65 mphour but it doesn’t get that boost in order to get there. What’s this gona cost me depending on the diagnosis?

This could be anything from a turbo replacement to a simply cracked vacuum line. Cost would be a couple of thousand dollars to ten dollars.
Need more information.
Has it been scanned with Vcds?
Has any recent work been done?
Has the car been neglected?
Have you done anything?
Was this sudden or gradual?
Do you drive your car like a grandmother….or do you drive it like you stole it with occasionally hitting redline?

No it hasn’t been scanned. No recent work done other than I replaced the fuel filter and replaced front rotors/pads. The loss of power was kinda sudden as I noticed it entering a freeway ramp. And in general I drive like g’ma.

WAG- If you just take it in, $1-2 thousand. If you troubleshoot and repair your ownself $5-5 hundred.

Like I said earlier….it could be as simple as a vacuum leak , usually to the turbo actuator.
It could be a rusty or sticking turbo actuator. Tha can be changed on the car for $100-150.00 bucks.
A mity vac is a great tool to help troubleshoot this.
It could be clogged VNT vanes inside the turbo which requires removal and disassembly to clean…..depending on how many miles are on it it might behove you to just replace the turbo , keep the removed one and sell it here , to recoup some money , or try to fix it yourself . But this option will be the most expensive one…..this is why you cannot grandma or baby these engines , they need to be redlined occasionally to get the temps up in the turbo to prevent clogging with carbon.
Also if it has been babied I strongly suggest you pull the lower intercooler piping off the intercooler and drain the oil in there…..another effect of babying it . Because if you do get the turbo working…..and you stomp on it…..without removing the oil that has built up……you will have a runaway, and if you don’t catch it in time it will go past red line and you will need a replacement motor….. forewarned….
The only way is to dump the clutch in a high gear and stomp on the brake……you wanna kill the motor ASAP , plus turn the key off but DO NOT REMOVE the key ( this is if your driving and it happens ) the ASV will close hopefully killing the air to the engine but you still are able to steer the car, albeit with some difficulty as power steering won’t be there to help .
If the key is removed then the steering wheel is locked.

^Here's the rub though.
You might want to see about upping your pay grade.
You'll be lucky to find a shop/mechanic who knows half of what csstevej just stated...
Good luck!
