Lights turned on after car was locked

Tonight the lights in the Golf turned on by themselves.
I just closed the garage door and put the keys in the key drawer. The lights come on right about when I put the keys in the drawer. Can the remote do this?
About 3 hours later a neighbor told me they were on.
I had the block heater plugged in. The hood was fully closed.

When I went out to the car, I hit the lock button on the remote and the lights went out.
The battery was low, but the car started. I disconnected it and put a charger on it.
In the video, you can see the LED flash twice and the lights turn on at the very end of the video. It happens at 7 seconds in a 9 second video.
Any ideas what can cause this? I'll experiment with trying to recreate this tomorrow.

What all lights came on? The headlights? The running lights too?

The CCM may have flagged a DTC that could be a clue.

The lights that flash when you use the remote were on. NOTE: The turn signal on the drivers fender isn't working right now so that wasn't on, but the passenger one was.
It's my habit to push lock on the remote before putting the key in the drawer. The lights stayed on after I did that.
I checked for codes on the scan gauge II this morning and only found a pending code P0128.

My guess is you have a CCM flaking out.

A generic scan tool cannot access the CCM, so your coolant temp DTC in the Engine is not helping here.

@oilhammer I'll check with VCDS this weekend. After work tonight I checked the hose temps. The upper hose was heating up faster than the lower but I didn't wait long enough to feel it get really warm. I'll check that this weekend too.
