Let's play what is this noise...

I have a 2011 Jetta TDI sedan with about 76,000 miles on it.

I bought it used about 9 months ago.

It has always made a tire roaring noise that is most noticeable at 50MPH and 75 MPH from the front of the car. Doesn't vibrate or click or anything just sounds alot louder at 50 and 75MPH.

Thinking it was a bad tire and needing new tires soon, I now have new tires. Noise is still there. Wasn't the tires.

When you travel 50 MPH around a left corner, the noise becomes even louder (you are putting more force on the right front). When you take a 50 MPH right corner the noise disappears.

I jacked up the right side because I thought maybe wheel bearings, but there is no play in the right side (passenger side) wheel at all.

Anyone have any idea what this could be?

right wheel bearing...

hard load on right side when you take left turn makes issue worse...

right turn you take load off... noise gone...

I believe there are inner and outer wheel bearings on each side.

I had a bad inner bearing on the left side. It hummed at speed. It did not make any more or less noise turning in any direction.

I will replace the whole wheel bearing hub assembly which is at the wheel. Is there another bearing that I'm not aware of?

None.
There is only one bearing per side. That bearing has an inner and outer race, but it's a sealed unit. I just had a vehicle making the same noises as you. I replaced the passenger wheel bearing. No change. Replaced the drivers side and problem solved. Upon inspection, the problem was the inner race of the drivers side.

It's hard to feel bearing problems by yanking on the wheel because the calipers hold the wheel in place.

I replaced the passenger side last night. A little quieter.. Still making the humming though.
I am going to replace drivers side too. Hopefully that will do it

My noise is GONE! It drives so quiet now. No more cupped tire noise.

I swore it was the passenger side hub bearing that was giving me trouble with the way it made it noise when I turned left and put weight on the passenger side wheels.

Upon closer inspection, the bearing appeared tight on the car with the caliper removed, it wasn't until I got the hub off there was a little play on the inside of the bearing. I thought I bet this won't solve my problem because it was so slight. But when I went for a test drive the noise was gone.

So if you repair your hubs, it is probably a good idea to replace both sides.
