I have a 2002 tdi with the alh and a automatic transmission, today I was out having some fun with it today when I noticed a puddle of tranny oil under it, when I took a look underneath it is coming from in between the block and transmission from the little holes in the case. It only leaks while it’s running and it takes a few seconds to start leaking and leaks a pretty steady stream. Anybody have any idea where it’s coming from? Any ideas help, thank you

Most likely the Torque Converter Seal is leaking. The oil pressure pushes oil out past the bad seal when the engine is running. Sorry for the bad news.

You will need to remove the transmission and pull the Torque Converter to access the seal. You should inspect everything as you're "going into" the job. Notice if the flex-plate bolts are loose. Inspect the part of the Torque Converter than runs inside the seal for unusual wear characteristics that may have caused the seal to go bad. But, likely the seal just went south due to age and miles.

Only one Mk. II left (whine) and, yet, another alh.
If it is leaking like that, park the car.

If you are asking this basic a question, I doubt you can handle the work to repair it....quite frankly.

If you hire the job done, the labor will double the "value" of the car. And, this "value" number will be in terms of a negative value.

Things in your life just got "real."

There are just too many to list....
Dang, another 01M still (sorta) on the road! That's the fourth one I've run across in the last 10 days.

Yes, you'll have to remove the transmission and see what's what. Usually TC seals leak because the bushing is worn out, and just putting a new seal in it won't last long. But you're in Michigan. Shoot, you could have a rust hole in the converter body on something that has been subjected to that level of salt for 23 years.
