Hey y'all,

Just wanted to mention that Dieselgeek has the hard to find brass impeller Laso water pump with all Timing Belt Deluxe kits we sell for the ALH Golf, Jetta, and New Beetle TDI's. This tried and true German made favorite is an icon with it's shiny brass impeller and trademark blue and white box. The brass impeller will never separate from the shaft like the plastic OE and some aftermarket pumps.

Its a sure thing!

Jim,
Is there any performance / longevity difference between the cast iron pump and the brass? I am asking because 3 months ago, I installed a DG TB kit. Just realized this pump is for ALH...not my PD.
Not knocking one or the other...just trying to understand. I realize the brass will probably resist corrosion better. Might that be the only difference?

Thanks!

Tony

The flow differences between brass and steel impellers would be zero. If I had to hazard a guess as to which type was more reliable I would say that I have had slightly better reliability with the German made Laso pump than with the steel impeller pumps. To be fair, I have to say that I've sold many times more brass Lasos than any other pump by a long shot and it is the kind of quality part I really like to sell since it has been so reliable for so long. The Graf and Hepu pumps I use in other kits are made by Metelli in Italy and have also been very reliable. I have never been able to get Laso pumps for the PD engines.

I am willing to pay a good bit more for the ALH Laso pump than the other pumps simply because they have been proven over time. I am very resistant to change what works.
