I've been noticing a slightly metallic knocking noise when I shift and the motor is not sending torque to the drivetrain. I can also do it if I'm in gear and slightly tap the go pedal, then let off and let the engine brake the car. Not sure where to start?

Is it an automatic? No mention of the clutch.

Sorry, it's a VR6 clutch with single-mass flywheel, 5 speed O2J transmission. I had it installed a little over a year ago.

DMF took a dump.
Yeah, that is what I thought at first too.

Check the dogbone mount under the engine/trans, check the CV joints, check the control arm bushings.

Is it possible that the FW was not properly torqued and is a bit loose?
I sure hope not. I had a VW Heavy line mechanic do it at his house. I'll check the tranny mounts etc when I get under it. I'll be replacing shocks very soon. I've replaced the control arm bushings with the TT's. I do know that one of my CV boots is torn. Possibly it's there.

Thanks.
