Key fob is not working. Pairing did not help.

Hello all, I help everyone is well.

I recently picked up a 2011 Golf TDI and it has been very much a project. The most recent issue I am facing is that the key fob does not work. I have replaced the 2032 battery in the fob, and have done some of the different pairing combinations in and out of the ignition. These have not given me any luck. This leads me to believe that it is something related to the car recieving these signals. I am ordered a keyless entry module (Part No: 5K0 959 434 A) to see if this gives me any luck.

Is my thought process logical? Has anyone faced this issue in the past? I am at a complete loss here and I'm tired of hearing my car alarm every time I manually unlock the driver's door (The passenger door doesnt unlock until I turn off the alarm by putting the key in the ignition... huh...).

Best,
EP

@epsux -- We assume that the key your fob will start the engine in the ignition switch (that is, it is paired with the immobilizer).

Remote fob functions are implemented in the CECM/BCM J519, fitted under the instrument panel above the driver side footwell. You should scan the car with a VAG aware diagnostic tool like VCDS, OBDeleven, and others, for potential fault codes. Remote fob pairing for convenience functions (e.g., central locking) is initiated as an Adaptation in the J519 module. --g

Thanks for the reply. I'm also assuming the key is paired since it turns the car on no problem. I'll take a look at VCDS in the next few days and see what's going on in the module. What would you reckon is the next step if no codes are thrown?

I bet its the ignition switch. I had almost the same issues with my gf's 2015 Passat.

do you hear constant chiming sounds when you open the door with no key in the ignition of the steering wheel?
