Absolutely worth it!

The slow throttle from the line is completely gone( was a safety hazard more than once), coming up to a stop light/sign it’s less jerky, and the thing just moves now.

Across the powerband has completely changed but it’s the most noticeable around town(sub 50mph). I can’t speak to MPG changes as I’ve only driven about 30 miles today so I’ll update as the week goes on.

I’ve owned other Kerma tuned TDI’s through the years and have enjoyed them all. Being in Denver, no luck of removing emissions and keeping the car.

Im looking to Kerma tune my 2011 golf dsg. Is it worth it to just do the tdi tune or should I also do the flash tune. $1000 is a lot

Ive also had your combination, definitely do the DSG tune with a flash. @lemoncurd is correct that it would be a waste of only doing half the equation. Even the GTI/R guys who only flash cannot use the full potential of their tune without the DSG portion.

Update. I have now had back to back 680/700 miles total on a full tank which I feel is very solid. The car runs extremely well with zero hiccups.

I am waiting on a back ordered DPF and another cat from VW currently so maybe thatll make a difference even more? I doubt it but never know.

Hey Guys!

Also looking at stage 1 kerma tune for my 14 jsw. It’s DSG so i was glad to find this thread recommending the dsg tune as well.

I am in Tucson, AZ - emissions equipment is necessary, but i may have a way to skirt that and register out of county.

How much more involved is a DPF delete? I’d like to keep my vehicle mostly stock since i drive about 3000 hwy miles a month and don’t want to wear down turbo or other components too much with hard driving. Also, dpf likes my 900 hwy miles a week.

Is Kerma still my best option in your opinion ? Or should i pursue a delete?

Well, Kerma is just a tune, so flash the ECU and TCU. Super easy.

A delete is the above, plus about 4-5 hours of removing and reinstalling exhaust equipment. May involve some cutting, probably will include some frustration and swearing. But the results are worth it, if you can get away with it (and don't mind the diesel exhaust smell).

We got the tune for our CJAA from MRTuning, which shows readiness on OBD2. I have not confirmed this will still pass the smog test in Maricopa as we are not due until July. I would love to get confirmation so I can hit the same pothole with my Passat 😉

i wouldn’t do the work myself - no time and a lack of tools is holding me back.

Assuming a delete will set me back financially a bit more due to parts and labor.

I think if my dpf system isn’t having issues, the move is to keep it and kerma tune - then spend the extra monies for my timing belt / water pump and brakes/suspension as that looks like the more critical work.

Just for reference, our kit was $1140 USD and we sold the DPF and cat to a scrapper for $450. So we were all in at $690 doing the work ourselves. You scenario would obviously be higher, having to pay for labor and an extra $225 for a DSG tune (MRTuning).

Also, Kerma will not do a delete tune, so if you plan to do that in the future, you should contact Malone and get an emissions intact tune, with a dynamic EGR for now. Then, in the future, you can delete and have them send you an updated file.

Phoenix area is OBD2, Tucson is smog. Phoenix also don't test for the SCR system.

That's why I love that I live in between the testing area 😁

My 11cjaa with Kerma non delete flew thru 2x's (Stanislaus Co.) No issues. The JSW has since been sold out of state
