Just how many 2004-2005 Passats imported to USA?

Do any of you TDI folks know the numbers for this? I am curious, in fact very curious. Thanks in advance...and if possible the breakdown for TDI and gasser models.

About 10 % of total sales in the US those years were diesels . Find the figures for US sales of Passats and take 10 % and add the 2 production years . that numder is a good guess on how many TDI Passats were sold .

There was a time during the time the TDI Passats were on sale when the VW lots had more TDI Passats than Passat gassers 4 cyl & 6 cyl . I saw a few dealers that had 20+ at a time with maybe 3 gassers on the lot .

PM a user name Traubenberg over at passatworld.com

He told me (a/o Aug 2005) that:

"Between 2000 and 2005, there were 13,061 TDIs produced. Actually, there were 13,061 produced in 2004 and 2005 - there were none available before that. Almost 10,000 (9,840) of those are from 2005.

2004 - 2,338 Sedans, 883 Variants
2005 - 6,404 Sedans, 3,436 Variants"

Thanks for pulling the numbers. My wife said, "Not a lot out there, are there?" I was getting curious. Here in Sheboygan, I count at least 6 of them alone. :)

Others have weighed in with some numbers...I read (here sompelace? Car and Driver?) or heard (from my dealer??) there were about 11000 2004 Passat TDIs sold in North America. That's in the ballpark between 6000 and 13000:)
In nearly two years and 50K miles of driving mine, I've seen less than 20 others outside of the dealer or a regional get together....

It totally depends on where you are located. Some areas they are quite common, either sedan or wagon, other areas they are rare.

Looks like the '05 tdi wagons are pretty rare. That would explain why I have never seen one on the road before. Heck, I have only seen one tdi passat sedan. They just aren't prolific. It's too bad, most will never know what it's like to drive a car such as these.

Gone...
Up here 2004 wagons are rare, 2005 wagons more common, and I see several Passat TDIs on my daily commute. I'm seriously toying with the idea of picking up a slightly used 2005 wagon to replace the Jetta wagon, for more room and driving pleasure. That will end arguments on who takes which car: he or she who needs the wagon that day, takes the wagon, either way it will be a great drive :)

Candy White, Northern Green, and Samoa Red were 'limited availability' colors making them rare.

When I was looking for my N. Green passat, I do recall coming across only one Samoa Red sedan and zero S. Red wagons.

Just courious, do anyone tdiclub members have a samoa red b5 passat?

After searching, there is at least on 04 for sale. http://forums.tdiclub.com/showthread.php?t=135302&highlight=samoa

I have a Samoa Red wagon. It always takes longer to pick it up from a dealer visit because the road warriors can't find it. They're looking for a car that is "red", not one that is plum brown.
