Junkyards that have Jetta TDI's for parts.

I'm probably putting this in the wrong section of the forum but it's probably going to be a road trip for me to find parts. So I thought why not? Anyway do you people know which junkyards have TDI's available to pull parts off of? Thank you for your help and time!

Typically there is no Junk yard that has them available. At least with pull your own yards, you have to have alerts set on your phone about arrivals and be the 1st one in because they don't last long.

There are still some out west. Tragically, the other week, I saw an ALH golf go straight to the crusher complete because they had ~5 in the yard already…
I did manage to hack off the glow plug harness before she went (was on reconnaissance without tools that day).

There are two yards in VA that post pictures of their cars, and most LKQ yards have multiple pictures along with a short description. Check photos for the engine / badges and double check the dates. LKQ in Baltimore had a silver Mk4 TDI wagon with 5M last month- first one Ive ever seen. Otherwise, TDIs only pop up a few times a year.

No way, where is this?? I want a yard around here, I am from Fernie, with an ALH golf, always searching for parts. Was it Farbrook? I contacted them with no reply.

Yep, Farbrook. Same day I saw a complete ALH wagon but the heart was torn out on my next visit.

Oh man you have me pretty excited now. I want to check that out. I am picking my Mum up from the airport end of February, I will lump this in. Some less worn leather heated 2door front seats would make me very happy I am excited to go. I originally got my golf when I lived in Vancouver, and I miss the culture of people parting out their personal ones. Just go on craigslist, contact a bunch of folks, and cruise backyard to backyard chatting with tdi people, pulling bits. It was a good time. The best part of Vancouver, really.

You can find plenty of gassers in the yards if you are just looking for body and interior parts. But, if yours is broke most likely the one in the yard is broke too, but sometimes you get lucky. I got a new to me black leather heated hardy worn at all drivers seat last year.

Ooo I am so excited to make a trip, especially after that! I am after some new heated black seats you have me jealous. It is largely interior bits I want, so yeah just any mark 4s is good for me. I specifically want a fold down 2door seat so my bed works better in there.

I scrapped an 06 TDI with a perfect running engine at LKQ in Tulsa a few years back.

I just saw a cjaa wagon where someone had snipped all 4 injector wires leaving maybe 1-2cm or wire hanging off the connectors. And then they never touched the injectors. Probably the same guy who took all the glow plugs (but didn't snip those wires).

It's a tdi. Dark Grey. It's a '14 and not a '12 like I posted.
They had a red wagen that was gas but appears to be gone now.

Wow I just found a TDI 2012 in a pull a part near me! I may be making a junk yard trip today. Looks like there are plenty of gassers out there with the 6 speed dsgs in them. I feel like I should pull one just for back up.

LKQ pyp. Pulled many tdi motors, transmissions, and other parts over the years. Check inventory daily and be ready. Seen multiple TDI cars at a single location at the same time. Raleigh, durham, greensboro are all equidistant from me.

That's the trick I think. Unfortunately I live too far away from any of the good yards to be able to go there at the drop of a hat.

Lately i've been seeing engines abused at the yards by dpf scavengers. One ran their sawzall after the V-band clamp and into the valve cover (i got the turbo from that car). Today i saw 2 more where they removed all 3 mounts + subframe + disconnected the steering column, which left the engine+tranny on the ground, or *almost* on the ground, supported by grounding cable + bent A/C hoses + the left axle.

There's a Jetta station wagon @ the shredder yard in Stanley,VA. It's a TSI - gasser. 2012 or newer.

Probably irrelevant but if you cross the border north, we have a chain of scrap yards called Kenny-U-pull and you can check the cars on the website, including the trim, a photo of it and the date of arrival. I see a lot of TDIs on the website.

https://row52.com/ setup an alert for model and years you are looking for near you and be ready to try to get in the same day something shows up. When they email you links you will need to click in them to check the engine code, but I managed to snag two 11mm pumps off a couple ALH's and have an extra set of injectors on the shelf. Have also snagged other misc stuff.

I don't need many more parts to take up shelf space right now but still have the alerts set and still see stuff once in awhile in fact there's an ALH at the Lynnwood, WA pick n pull right now. Been there since the 5th so injectors and pump are likely gone by now, but I tend to see one about once every 2-3months. I imagine the PDs come through as well.

Around here if it's a tdi that gets junked but runs it gets pulled into their shop and the whole thing comes out and then on to ebay it goes or however they sell complete tdi engines. Gas turbos too, they had a 1.8 bug that was tricked out in the yard and it said "not for sale, hold for shop" on the window. Sometimes one slips past inspection and makes it to the yard where head, turbo, n75s, mafs, fuel pumps, etc is gobbled up quickly.

I wanted complete clean doors with tint for my Jetta but all the places around here want to sell the skins, windows, etc as individual parts at a huge markup. No fing way I'm paying that just to have to put them back together, I'll wait to find a complete set of doors. One day me and Sambo, my partner in vw crime, made it to glissons upull and they had a black Jetta with perfect doors inside and out and tint, $25 a door.

We couldn't find a socket to fit into the door jamb to unleash the treasure so had to leave it alone. Got a socket that would fit a week or so later and drove back to the upull expecting to drive away with our haul, we were smiling as we grabbed the tool boxes and headed towards the office. A guy popped his head out of the office and said sorry boys can't let you in the yard, why not we asked, he said they had a fire in the shop and the entire place was shut down. Then we noticed all the burnt cars and other debris in the back, but the fire was nowhere near the pile of vws they had way back on the lot so we kept hope alive. Something like 3 years later they open the upull up and we roll in overjoyed at the prospect of perfect doors for the Jetta. You know it was gone, their entire invo was changed. Moral of the story grab it quick or someone else will. Shoulda borrowed a torch.
