I was looking what you said here and at vwvortex, and I went out and checked my car and my interior button works if only the driverside door is unlocked. That's why I got confused when I saw the direction on vortex.

Just got a Euro Bora trunk....before I take it apart, took some pics. Here is how OEM euro trunk wiring looks:

Finished Bora trunk handle installation yesterday. Swap out the following parts from a Bora trunk:
1) trunk handle w/microswitch

2) lock cyclinder switch (E232 + F124 on Europe wiring diagram)
Euro lock cyclinder switch (E232 + F124):

NA lock cyclinder switch (F124):

3) lock cyclinder back contact piece
4) entire Bora trunk wiring harness

Europe Convenience System wiring diagram can be found here - thanks Lito for the pdf file.

After comparing my NA wiring diagram (No.58/13) with Euro wiring diagram (No.75/13), I found that my Jetta's using T5d/4 instead of T5d/1 on my Bora trunk harness to connect from V139 (Tailgate/bootlid release motor *only Bora) to T32/18 on J393. I physically checked my NA wiring harness, no pin on T5d/1 on both ends of connector (male side - trunk harness and female side - car harness). But instead, using T5d/4. So I re-run my Euro harness T5d/1 to T5d/4 (which is empty on original Euro harness T5d connector).

Note:
T5d (5-pin connector, brown, connector point left C-pillar)
T32 (23-pin connector on J393 - Convenience system central control unit, behind dash panel, left)

After all the parts (trunk handle, modified Euro harness, and lock cyclinder switch) physically installed, when testing basic NA functionality, found that all of them retained - door switch works in usual way, but using key to unlock trunk when alarm's on will not turn off alarm. Then compared Euro lock cyclinder with NA lock cyclinder, noticed the contact metal piece is different. Swap this metal piece to enable alarm will temperory turn off when using key to open trunk.

Euro lock cyclinder metal contact piece:

NA lock cyclinder metal contact piece:

From Euro wiring diagram (No.75/15), Bora tailgate/bootlid handle release button (E234) is connected to T23/2 via T5d/3 (in which, NA in car wiring harness connector is empty on this pin). Tried to run T5d/3 to ground, as Lito suggested to me that "It will work with one of the three wires going to the handle grounded instead of in it's pin location. I just can't remember which of the three.
Obviously, there is one power, one ground and a third pin. That third pin needs to go to ground." But nothing happened when trunk handle pushed when all doors unlocked.

Then I just try my luck to run T5d/3 directly to T23/2. IT WORKED! Just as outlined by Lito:
1. The trunk handle will not work if the car is locked
2. The trunk handle will open the trunk if all four doors are unlocked
3. The trunk handle will not open the trunk when only the driver's side door is unlocked and the other doors are locked

I think it's the Euro trunk wiring harness makes the difference. As I wired everything as the Euro wiring diagram will work. Now, both my door switch and trunk handle switch will work at the same time. I only have to figure out how to use the trunk lock cyclinder to lock the trunk handle in case of valet parking/lockout situation. I believe it has to do with the microswitch on the right of the lock cyclinder switch on this pic:

Here is some pics on final installation, very clean, no wire ever cut on both euro trunk wiring harness and NA in car harness:

Anyone has an access to UK Bora owners manual, could you please see if you can find the information regarding how to lockout the trunk handle. TIA.

Hopefully, noone else will want to do this mod.

I'd like to have my trunk unlocked when all my doors are unlocked, but I'm *not* gonna try and go through all you guys went through to get it to work.

If someone ever does a sort of 'plug and play' type of deal that will accomplish the same, I might do it.

Just got a reply from Mike (Mikedav) in UK:
"Trunk is always locked unless all doors unlocked.....
i dont think you can do what u r describing im afraid"
Sounds like in Europe, there might be no trunk lockout (valet parking) feature.

Tongsli,

I have a 2003 Jetta Wagon and I want to have the rear operate like a normal door too. I am trying to understand what the final solution was that you used but I am not clear what you did to get it working.

Can you describe the parts and steps we need one last time?

thanks!

Bigmacf1 just did, with pictures. Also, if you did read this thread or others on the rear handle, you will know that your CCM for the wagon will prevent you from doing this mod.

Only Sedan cars can do this. The wagon is just like the golf. The CCM controls everything. This topic has been well documented and others have tried a more complex work-around for the Golfs/Wagons.

This thread simply explains how to wire your trunk the way the BORA SEDAN is wired in Europe.

... None :S
EDIT: I just saw your post on vortex. All the images are broken now

Why does this mod disable the lockout? At least in my Mexican 99.5, VAG-COM has the lock as a seperate measureing block, and when it is locked, it can still tell when the door switch is being activated.

OK I am a dummy, I bought the Passat Wagon handle thinking I could do the same mod. Guess what the handle is about an inch wider than the Sedan handle so I think this is not going to work.

Does anyone know if the Passat and Jetta handles are the same size or has anyone tried this mod on their Passats??

TIA

Bump for Mishari Read page 1 and then page 7. Bigmac1's posts on this page basically tell you the differences in the lock cylinder.
