I was reading on Volkswagon.de and it appears that the new Jetta 5's key FOB, at least in Germany, will allow you to operate your windows like the Audi's essentially giving you alien-tech features.

Anybody know if you can?

Has anyone read the operator's manual yet?

I did the RTFM thing. Saw nothing about the key fob working the windows, but you can still put the key in the door and open/close them.

I did see one thing I could not figure out. Something about the car will turn on the low beams when you go into a tunnel. Might have to read the manual while inside the car!

also having a problem getting the remotes to operate the electric seats. I had it working 1 time, then programed the wifes remote and my remote don't seem to move the seats anymore.

a couple years ago (98 or so) someone was building a "box" you add to the car that allowed your remote to operate the windows, wonder if he is still building them?

Yes, the alientech device and autowindow will do that. Thanks for answering.

Translated from volkswagen.de's website. Jetta trendline

quote:

Successful conclusion.

Whatever you with the Jetta under catch to bring would like - a push of a button from the distance is in most cases sufficient. The zentralverriegelung functions likewise by radio remote maintenance like an opening and a closing of the windows and the baggage compartment door. More comfortably and more simply geht's not.

end quote.

I wonder if this can be coded or if a different central convenience module would do the trick.

With the Golf A5 FOB (which looks identical) simply depressing the unlock button for a few seconds (and keeping it depressed) will wind down all the windows. If you depress the lock button for a few seconds (and keep it depressed) the windows will all wind up. Exactly the same as what used to be achieved using the key in the door lock (which still works as well).

Not sure if this is the same in the US - but here in Australia that is how the A5 Golf operates.

Eric,

Thanks. It doesn't appear that the US FOB's can do the same. If it can be coded, that'd be fantastic. I suspect it's a different Central Convenience Module.

With the A4's, using a European CCM causes problems because of the door locks. You had to change your door locks because the CCM's communicate differently to the door locks.

Hopefully, it's not the same with the US and European A5. Now, what we need to do is identify the European CCM that has this feature and test it in a US spec Jetta 5!

Maybe Penclnck can help us out. I just had a conversation with Dan From Hillside Imports. He's telling me that there is a possibility that the software code, which is now 38 digits long, may enable some of these cool features:

Turning the daytime running lights on and off with the MFA cluster

Turning off the seatbelt door chime

RDS display on the MFA for those with Navigational Systems

Rolling up your windows by holding your FOB buttons.

Penclnck, you out there?

Reading his Jetta V page it sounds like it could be possible...

So why the long code? One of the reasons is the same hardware that is the Comfort Control Module can be used in pretty much ever VW (and other makes in the VW family). This makes the part cheaper since you are buying millions of 1 part instead of thousands of 10 different part numbers. Software coding the takes care of all the details that each individual car needs.... that can be a lot of different options, hence the long code. Also, it it is a bianary code at that.

*Plays with coding of CCM*

Hmm... now the headlight switch makes the trunk open. Better try a different code..

It’s a chance that it works by recoding control module 46 (long coding). The new coding has many options, like DRL disable or turn signal mode for autobahn, disable windows roll down via key in lock.

Byte 04 Bit 2 = Comfort-Opening via active Remote
Byte 04 Bit 5 = Comfort-Closing via active Remote

Byte 00 Bit 0 Einzeltüröffnung
Byte 00 Bit 3 Auto-Lock (nur mit Byte 00 Bit 4 zusammen)
Byte 00 Bit 4 Auto-Unlock (nur mit Byte 00 Bit 3 zusammen)
Byte 04 Bit 0 Komfortöffnen (eFH) via Schließzylinder
Byte 04 Bit 2 Komfortöffnen (eFH) via FFB
Byte 04 Bit 3 Komfortschließen (eFH) via Schließzylinder
Byte 05 Bit 3 Komfortschließen (Schiebedach) via Schließzylinder
Byte 07 Bit 4 Trägerfrequenz FFB (315 MHz )
Byte 11 Bit 4 Schnittstelle Alarmhorn -H12- aktiv
Byte 11 Bit 5 Typ Sirenenton (0 = frequenzmoduliert; 1 = unterbrochen)
Byte 11 Bit 6 Typ Alarmsirene (0 = 10 Alarme; 1 = 1 Alarm)

Here is helpful soft to help with long coding tool for long coding

now we are getting somewhere. Who wants to mess with it first? My VAGcom is turned off at this point. I need to re-install it and get it registered again before I can use it.

Problem is I don't trust the computer its running on. The computer screwed up once and VAGcom unregistered itself. I was told "if it does it again, expect to have to pay for the new cable to get it turned back on"!

You will need new interface HEX-COM+CAN or HEX-USB+CAN to play with A5 Jetta and then you dont need to register the VAG because the interface is the smart one with registartion data embeded in it.

I spent about 45 minutes today on a Jetta 5 to see what I could learn. Long code for the car is as follows:

13100F880106281B0906050FA0080F0490A540]

Now then, in playing around with Guided Functions, I did find that the 46-10-17 is for "close & open comfort via remote", to which is turned off by default for the US market. I turned that feature on and the long coding changed to:

13100F880106081B0906050FA0080F0490A540

However, the remote didn't do anything for the windows when I pressed and help the button or did several button taps in a row.

I also tried playing around with the different byte sections, #04 as follows:

13100F882406081B0906050FA0080F0490A540 (also did it as "25" as well).

None of the different combo-O-codes I tried ever got the windows to do anything. What I need is the long code from a car that does have this feature working so I can figure out the 1 part that makes it work.

Later.

No not yet.. I've been waiting for the Bentley books to be released to I can buy the bundle. I decided it wasnt worth it to buy VAG-COM without having a repair manual to accompany it :) Sorry i cant help. However, if you give me some more instructions i can ask the dealer - they have been very helpful here and I'm been a long term customer.

Erick, ask your dealer what is your coding in central convenience module (46) in your car (if you have windows working via remote), make a copy of all numbers and post them here along with controller #.

Penclnck,

Download that software Ele28 posted and take a look at the Long coding. Pretty cool.

Greg, so what are the differences?

Lito, changing byte F8 to FA should activate the comfort system needed to operate windows via remote (its only my guess) and replacing 01 to 05 should activate windows opening via remote, then changing 80 to 82 will activate windows closing via remote. We need someone to confirm this.

Greg,

Thanks. Where is the 01 to 05? I don't see that in the numbers.

13100F880106081B0906050FA0080F0490A540
13100FA82D06281B0906050FA0080F0490A540

I'm going to contact Dan from Hillside Imports since they too have a VAS 5051. Maybe he can get this to work.

So the only people interested in this cool function are three forum members who don't even have a Jetta V?

Make that two of us. However, I haven't been able to post anything conductive to this thread so I've been lurking
Once it's figured out, tell us how to make the changes and we will.

I am also game. She wants the windows up/down feature and remove the seat belt chime. There is a thread going on over the ODBC board (here on freds) about the belt chime, but nothing about the A5. Something else we have not crossed yet is turning the chime off for the snow flake.

Lito, here is 18 bytes, count from 0 (original coding)

13 10 0F 88 01 06 08 1B 09 06 05 0F A0 08 0F 04 90 A5 40

Byte 3 bit 5 is for Comfortactivation (I believe that is for remote windows) and to activate change 88 to A8

13 10 0F <font color="red"> </font> 01 06 08 1B 09 06 05 0F A0 08 0F 04 90 A5 40

Byte 4 Bit 2 is for “Comfort opening with active remote”, by default in US is OFF

13 10 0F A8 01 06 08 1B 09 06 05 0F A0 08 0F 04 90 A5 40 to activate, it has to be changed to: <font color="red"> </font>

13 10 0F A8 <font color="red"> </font> 06 08 1B 09 06 05 0F A0 08 0F 04 90 A5 40

Byte 4 Bit 5 is for “Comfort closing with active remote” , by default in US is OFF to enable this and “Comfort opening with active remote” it has to be changed to 25

13 10 0F A8 <font color="green"> </font> 06 08 1B 09 06 05 0F A0 08 0F 04 90 A5 40

Got this from VWvortex...does this help>? or is it a repeat of something?? to many bits and bytes for me..

So what you have to do is, make sure this on is set to 0:

Byte 03 Bit 5 Comfort Function deactivated

Next make sure the following ones are set to 1 (those you want):

Byte 04 Bit 0 Comfort Opening (Windows) via Door Locks
Byte 04 Bit 2 Comfort Opening (Windows) via Remote Control
Byte 04 Bit 3 Comfort Closing (Windows) via Door Locks
Byte 04 Bit 5 Comfort Closing (Windows) via Remote Control
Byte 05 Bit 3 Comfort Closing (Sunroof) via Door Locks
Byte 05 Bit 5 Comfort Closing (Sunroof) via Remote Control

Do all VWs have the option of changing this code?

I've got the car scheduled for wty work on Tuesday (Sat Nav keeps reverting from English(Metric) to English (Imperial) and starts talking yards and miles - Yuk - rather frustating). I will ask them about this at the same time.
