Well, here diesel is stuck at 2.45-2.50, and gas is 2.25. And B20 went up last weekend to 2.51, from 2.45.

Thunder - Filled up yesterday in the NW Burbs for $2.35. First time I've seen the price come down. I'm Hoping that in a month when I have to fill up again it's even lower.

In the Midwest perhaps. On the Oregon Coast: Gas is $2.29 and diesel has been sitting at $2.67 for a long time now. I'm wishing for the $2.19 diesel we had last summer.

Diesel prices have been higher in North Texas for a long time. The oil company's are greedy and know they can get by with gouging the diesel owners. Actually gasoline is higher here too most of the time as opposed to the rest of the state.

Re: It\'s here: Gasoline overtakes Diesel in price!

No here in the East. Diesel is at or near $2.50 a gallon and premium gas is $2.35. I hunted around and found fuel for 2.43/gal, thats 35 dollors (US) for 14+ gallons. OUch! Can someone explain to me why diesel is higher than premium. I could understand it in the winter, diesel and home heatting oil are in competion for the same crude, but hell, winter is over. Did someone forget to tell the oil companies that? Any thoughts?

Yesterday I read a US Government report that stated for last week gasoline inventories fell quite a bit more than expected and distalate inventories fell less than expected

Diesel is $2.59 a gal around the corner from me, I'll drive 10 miles to get it for $2.38.....but it's still more expensive than gasoline.

I have never seen Diesel higher than Gasoline in Calgary. Right now gas is 89.9 and I filled up with diesel for 75.9 yesterday.

Have you noticed, though, that the difference between Diesel and Gas is dropping? Just a month or two ago (when I bought my Bug and started paying attention), the diesel price was around the Super Unleaded price, 20c difference. Now, it's more like 10c higher, and I saw it as close as 5c around Waco last weekend. Of course, it's not that diesel is dropping... it's just not rising as quickly as gas. But at this rate, RUL should overtake D2 by the summer.

Re: It\'s here: Gasoline overtakes Diesel in price!

The other thing to keep in mind is the higher diesel prices trickle down to the consumer via higher prices at the grocery store, Wal Mart etc. People would howl if gas went up 20 cents in one day, but they don't say a thing if lettuce goes up 20 cents a head. It's a much easier way for big oil to line their pockets w/o pissing the whole country off.

Around Baltimore Regular is 2.15, premium is 2.29 and the best price I can find for Diesel is 2.29 though more like 2.35-2.39 is more common.

Regular is typically 2.05-2.11, midgrade / diesel around 2.20, and premium unleaded 2.30. Some variations for each depending on the station. North Raleigh / Wake Forest NC area.

Re: It\'s here: Gasoline overtakes Diesel in price!

Update:

They raised diesel yesterday anywhere from a few cents lower($2.19), to the same as regular ($2.24). My gut feeling was that it would only be a few days until diesel caught up, and I was right.

Here in Big Sky Country, Regular $2.19 and diesel $2.49. Ouch. Everyone I know keeps telling me how high diesel is with the implication that I screwed up when I bought my 04 Jetta and I have to keep explaining that diesel will have to be 30% more expensive than gas for diesel to lose its cost/mile advantage.....$2.85.

Re: It\'s here: Gasoline overtakes Diesel in price!

There is no need for everyone to post their local prices, The following websites are always up-to date.

http://tonto.eia.doe.gov/oog/info/gdu/gasdiesel.asp

Diesel prices:
http://www.flyingj.com/fuel/diesel_CF.cfm

Gasoline prices:
http://www.flyingj.com/fuel/gasoline_CF.cfm?state=ALL
Hmm...

1) Average prices compiled and graphed on a government website mean little to me when I'm filling up.

2) Not everyone has a flying J near them, and they are not representative of average prices in a given area, as they tend to be cheapest place around to buy fuel.

3) This thread was a response to all those that had/have been complaining about diesel being higher than gasoline in price per gallon.

AAA also has representative prices for each state, and for major metropolitan areas within each state.

http://198.6.95.31/index.asp

The problem I see with AAA, however, is that they don't weight the average by the volume sold at each station. So if one station is charging $2.30 and the one across the street is $2.70, they average out to $2.50 even if the expensive station doesn't actually sell any fuel at that price.

It has been a couple of weeks since I filled up, so I walked over to check this morning and sure enough, diesel is cheaper than the Supreme gas by 3 cents.

I might be new here but driving diesels is old news to me. Diesel fuel always goes up in the winter to compete with heating oil refinery capacity space. In the summer its .20-.40 lower than gas in the south.

Always.

Though never say never.

Not here in Mass.. Premium just went up to 2.29, Diesel just went to 2.44, from 2.39. Although based on smell and foaming it looks like 'summer' fuel is back which should improve milage to help deal with these prices.

Here in over-taxed Mary-land, we still have B100 at $3.39 - 50% rebate = $1.70. No-brainer for me, I'm running B100!

Would this be the shell station in Taylorsville (at intersection of Rt 26 & rt 27)? Too bad the rebate is only for MD residents.
I ocasionally travel by this station. My last visit I finally tried some B100 and filled up with 5.8 gal of B100. I was left with a positive impression, though I do not have any scientific analysis to support that impression. I think it is definately better than regular #2 diesel.

In NJ Diesel is about $2.00-$2.29 depending where you go. Most common that I have seen is about $2.15.

Regular gas is about $2.00 with premium about 15-20¢ more.

Re: It\'s here: Gasoline overtakes Diesel in price!

Diesel jumped from $2.67 to $2.72 here today. Regular seems to be hanging in there at $2.35. Premium gas is $2.55. OK... everyone who told me to wait 6 more weeks (6 weeks ago) for the price to drop... what's the story now? According to you guys the price of diesel should be dropping, or at least leveling off to the regular gas level, now that it's officially spring. BTW I was told by a local station manager that our fuel comes from the North Slope & Washington refineries... not the Alberta refinery with the problems.

That just goes to show you Mitch that you cannot believe what some of these 'know-it-all' types say here.
We are inclined to want to believe what they are saying, but then time goes by, and they are proven wrong!

Last I heard, a barrel of crude settled at $57.27 on the Merk Friday last which was an all time new record.
As long as we see the price of crude rising, we will not see any major declines in pump pricing.
