New here and this is my first post so go easy.
my daughter has an 09 jetta tdi. It started flashing the glow plug light with the check engine light. Got a friends scanner and it was a egt sensor before the turbo. And a code for the dof restricted. It’s in limp mode. Got the sensor changed and it’s back to good and no codes for that. The dpf code is still there and can’t clear it. I don’t have vcds to try a forced regen. Been looking at weight reduction kits and tuning. For fun I called a local dealer to see how much a new dpf would be. $1515. Yeah it’s going in a diet. I found a dpf egr kit from Lpcustomfab. Anyone heard of them or used them? The kit is priced well and then I’d need a tune for it. I’ve been searching here a good part of the day and can’t quite decide. Any input would be great especially first hand knowledge and experience. Thanks and hopefully I’ll learn a lot here. Also I need a car lift in the garage.

The kit looks fine but I don't see a catalytic converter or resonator option. The CAT really make a big difference on the diesel smell and personally I like the quiet of a resonator.
Tunzilla is a EZ choice for a tune but there are many others. Good Luck!

So add a cat and a resonator? This is my daughter’s car and I don’t want to redneck it up. Lol. She does like the sound of my duramax but that’s another animal. I found aftermath tuning and they have a package deal for the delete and tuning which isn’t bad. I was about to pull the trigger on Stevenson but after looking through several posts, it’s seems like not the good choice.

You dont have to add a cat really. The smell is intense in 2 scenarios: while idling and right after parking. It does bother my girlfriend enough while idling at the drive-thru that she shuts the car down so maybe your daughter is gonna think the same way. A good delete shouldn't leak exhaust into the cabin while driving, only in those 2 scenarios.

Check out MR tuning. Nice kit and reasonably priced. Depending in your daughter's age and driving skill will determine the level of tune you load. The 50hp tune is spicy. They're quiet with the stock muffler on still. No extra exhaust noise just some light turbo whistle. I'm looking into adding a cat for the smell.
