I’m not having any problems starting. But it’s June. The battery in my 2015 SW is the standard VW one rated at 330 CCA. Is that adequate for freezing New England winters?

as long as its healthy you'll have no issues even if the car is left outside in -10F to -20F.

If the battery is weak, the first really good cold snap will show signs of weakness. If the battery is older than 5 years it'd be best to replace it this fall before cold weather sets in. We replaced both our batteries this past winter (both had 2017 units, I feel we got lucky with about 5/5 years out of them).

You can get a decent jump box for $50-100. I run my batteries til they won't start the vehicle. Sometimes they surprise you. My Kubota tractor battery lasted 15 years! The VW batteries seem to be very good too.

I do agree but, you start your tractor each day and run it for 30-60 min each day?

the under hood temps of these modern vw seems to be the real stress point.

Typically, yes. Although it often sits unused for long stretches in the winter between storms. It also experiences at least 10x the vibration that my car batteries do. But it was specially designed for the harsh operating conditions of tractor usage.

I've had more batteries fail in the summer due to the heat over the years. You can use an H6 battery. I got one from Walmart, Autozone and Advance are crazy high for batteries. My son had bad luck with the Advance batteries. You can also get one from dealer. 330CCA seems awfully low for a diesel, might have been replaced at one point....
