I was taught that ****** was half Jewish. His hate came from being teased of that fact.
From what I understand he was so ashamed of his infatuation towards this boy, the hatered stemmed from there! enough of the history lesson, does anyone know any funny beetle jokes? :D only joking folks.

Beetle design was started somewhere in the early 1930's (or maybe even ealier). Remeber, ****** came into power around that time.

I hope you ment to type Porsche. The first beetle like car was the Porsche 60.

Initially called the Porsche 60 by Ferdinand Porsche, it was officially named the KdF-Wagen when the project was launched. The name refers to Kraft durch Freude, or "Strength through Joy", the official leisure organization. It was later known as the Type 1, but became more commonly known as the Beetle after World War II.

I stand corrected, thanks.

Anyway, what I was conveying is that the Beetle has a very unique history, and the original aircooled engine could be swapped with the T1 (Transporter).

While we're on the history lesson, I was once told that Mercedes was a Jewish company, VW was true German.... This didn't make sense to me. It came from an older vw owner I was chatting with at the gas pumps... maybe he was just screwing around with me.

This is getting far too educational! A joke is needed here.

A russain, an american and a blonde were talking one day
The russian said, we were the first in space.
The american said, we were the first to the moon.
The blonde "said so what? we're going to the sun!

The russian and american looked at each other and shook there heads.
you can't land on the sun you'll burn up! said the russian.

To which the blonde replied, we're not stupid you know
we're going at night!

An elderly man was driving his New Beetle down the freeway when his cell phone rang.

Answering, he heard his wife's voice urgently warning him, "Herman, I just heard on the news that there's a car going the wrong way on highway 280. Please be careful!"

"It's not just one car," said Herman. "There's hundreds of them!"

I don't think it's girlie

In all honesty, I don't see the beetle as girly. Initially, a few of my buddies did laugh at the fact that I got a yellow bug, but apart from the initial reactions, I don't get looked at funny etc.

I think it's more that it gives off a happy, carefree vibe (no double entendres there).

I had a lady that turned her head and smiled at me sincerely. I am now appreciating this car more than ever, because it's making the world happier place. Now, I taught my kids that this car is alive and he's name is Herbie. So if you say anything bad to each other, Herbie will not appreciate it and drive carelessly (not really, just revving the engine a bit :p). After that, I see them talking nice to each other. Family Feud solved!

Are you saying Fred Flinstone was gay? Does Wilma knows about this?? Maybe it's the reason why Fred always hung out with Barney Rubble?? Maybe it was the reason why Fred kept saying "Yabba, dabba doo" whenever they were in the car together?

Beetles are no more feminine than Miatas. Now if they ever install a tampon dispenser next to the flower holder, you might want to look for another vehicle.;)
Miatas are RWD. Therefore, not ACTUALLY feminine.

Also, automatic Miatas are rare. Therefore, not ACTUALLY feminine. :p

I remember trying to cram my 6'4" frame into a Miata once in a showroom. Good thing it was a convertable and the top was down.. Definately not designed for the larger human... hmm.. what's that leave.... FEMALES...:D

Photobucket isn't accessible from work, but let me guess, it's the aircooled with a painting on it?

I actually don't mind the shortcomings, since I like the Beetle now as much as I liked my previous Jettas.:)

It's girly but if you're secure rock the beetle.

I'm not secure.. so I have a Jetta, which happens to get better fuel economy, and have more room.

Very entertaining interlude. I've heard some of the real story behind the KdF people's car. There was a book, Small Wonder, about VW and the Nordhoff era. I'm also a historian, besides being a chemist. If I get a Bug, I can always put my arms on the windshield. That would settle the little question.:)
But if anyone wants a pink Bug, there's one in the next county for sale. It's probably a gasser, I haven't checked, though. I'm just not into Mary Kay Pink.

The Jetta has more trunk space and marginally more back seat room, including headroom. The Beetle has much more headroom and legroom in the front - good for us tall, burly, manly guys! The Beetle is not listed among the top gay person's cars, the Jetta is.

Thanks. BTW, on frontal crash test (or something like that), Beetle came in among one of the top ten, Jetta wasn't. Anyway, not bashing Jetta or anything because I used to own a lot of them as you can see on my sig. They are both great cars. For the Beetle, I love the headroom, and the bulged wheel wells. I got used to it in about 3 days.

On a similar topic, American society is bent out of shape watching tackle football where muscular men in tights pass a ball to each other, sometimes between their legs, wrestling each other to the ground, and other men watch this. This is considered a masculine pastime! Or how about baseball, where you see unshaven men spit and scratch their crotches! TM
Don't forget boxing where two shirtless men in silk shorts fight for a belt and a purse.
