We picked the platinum color because of the look but also to not look too girlie and the black leather looks more masculine too. But then again, I would need to be insecure about my masculinity to worry about it.

So did I :D

I figure it's the most masculine beetle color.

I definitely love the color, but black, red, white, navy, and perhaps the darker blue metallic are all OK too.

Putting a spoiler on helps too, but not overdoing it. Otherwise it looks like a teen rice burner.:)

The design of the Beetle is related to the above. Not too girlie IMO.

Wouldn't it be nice to have the design coming up to be this traditional?

I like my girlie car... People are surprised when they get passed, and honked at by my girlie car too.. It's almost as if a rude male was driving it.. no wait.. THERE IS A GUY DRIVING IT...

C'mon folks.. metrosexual is the in thing... get with the program.:p

I bought my car because I wanted a small diesel and my son wanted a "Herbie" We got both. Haven't regretted it for a minute.

06 Platinum Gray, all black interior, TDI, If this car were a chick it would resemble Denise from Survivor China... Female with lots of male qualities...:D

Heh. I have been run down at the pumps by someone saying "you are putting diesel in your beetle". Standard reply, "yeah" and I give em my best blonde look.

I LIKE it this way

You know, I've driven mine for about 5 years now. Is it a chicks car? Well, I'm definatley not a chick. All I can say is this...I've had more chicks come up to me and want to talk to me about my "oh so cute car" and you know what...that's just fine with me.
I doubt the jettas, golfs and pasats get as much attention combined. :D

It's kind of like going some place with a dog. Try it...you'll get more attention from the girls. Now put a cute doggie in the front seat of your bug...you'll be asking "pinch me..am I dreaming".

Uh, well, I'd like to change this thread a bit and differentiate between the car and the driver:

Cars, like boats, are always feminine. In languages that use male/female gender they are usually female or neutral.

I think most of this thread is about the driver of said car.

So its really about what you drive on how it reflects on you, not the car.

On a similar topic, American society is bent out of shape watching tackle football where muscular men in tights pass a ball to each other, sometimes between their legs, wrestling each other to the ground, and other men watch this. This is considered a masculine pastime! Or how about baseball, where you see unshaven men spit and scratch their crotches! I think real men would be more interested in watching babes such as the cheerleaders or something! How about a little synchronized swimming, guys!?! More like maybe women's volleyball, eh?

Oh well, I digress. You know the saying, the bigger the engine, the smaller the....

Of course, I heard the Jetta is very popular with the gay fellas.

But what's the advertisement I hear these days?

"Don't judge me by my Jetta."
LOL, when a beetle drives past in the uk with a fella driving it, people say, he's got to be gay. although the pink barbie one looks quite nice I could defo see garry glitter driving one. :D

Why is it the Beetle has the gay image, but in reality the Jetta has the gay stats? I dont get it. I just love when jetta owners call beetle owners gay... pot calling the kettle black ! Call it sissy, girlie, or cute etc.. but watch out for that implication of swinging for the other team.. cuz thats not this model.;)

I remember being in a VW showroom back in 1991. I was buying a used jeep off of their lot. For a long time I just thought it was a salesman kidding around about alot of their VW buyers being gay, until I realized 15 years later that it was the co-owner I had been talking to and he was dead serious. No New Beetles back in 1991, so I know it wasn't my car that started the trend :D

Beetles are no more feminine than Miatas. Now if they ever install a tampon dispenser next to the flower holder, you might want to look for another vehicle.;)

That just goes to show that the Beetle likes to take it up the tailpipe.

These threads are enjoyable, but come on now. Like this really matters and who would compile statistics on things like this. I wasn't asked when I bought my car which team I played on though my wife is pretty confident I play just fine. :D

I previously owned 2x 1998 Jetta GLX, 2001 Passat Wagon, 2001 Jetta GLS TDI, 2002 Golf GLS TDI, and now the 2006 New Beetle GLS TDI and I like them all. Which one was most fun to drive out of all of them? I have to say that it's my New Beetle. My 2 cents again. Call me gay, Jack from Three's company, whatever... I love driving my Beetle.

"New Beetle... one smile at a time!"

****** did not create it. ****** promosed the people of Deucshland a car for every family if the ****-Germany won the war. He wanted an efficient and simple car, and the Beetle was designed by Ferdinand Pische. ****** actually liked it, and so it became. ****** said "..if car was to be efficient, it would follow the form of the nature, like a beetle..."

I hope you ment to type Porsche. The first beetle like car was the Porsche 60.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ferdinand_Porsche

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volkswagen_Beetle

Initially called the Porsche 60 by Ferdinand Porsche, it was officially named the KdF-Wagen when the project was launched. The name refers to Kraft durch Freude, or "Strength through Joy", the official leisure organization. It was later known as the Type 1, but became more commonly known as the Beetle after World War II.

I was taught that ****** was half Jewish. His hate came from being teased of that fact.
