I would like to have my traction control disabled, or programed to only kick in at a higher rate of speed. Ive never had tc and its plain annoying in these snowy days you get stuck and cant rock it or anything. Any chance there is a way to reprogram or disable it?

Sorry I don't know if you can change the programing. I have noticed that there seems to be two methods of "rocking" a car. One involves using lots of power and the other involves using minimal power to get the effect. I suggest the low power method.

I assume you have winter tyres.

Do you have access to VagCom/VCDS? There must be a controller for it. You may be able to disable it that way.

Even with aggressive snow tires, I found the traction control very helpful in last winter's snow. We haven't had any accumulation to test the '10 + snows yet.

dont know anyone with a vagcom but ill see if i can find someone...Ive never had traction control and never had a problem, for me with the amount of snow we have been getting here its much more of a pain for me.

there is no code helper for VCDS for 2011 Jetta TDI 09 Central Electronics yet.

Update! there is a new VCDS 10.6.3 i think, havn't tried it on the car yet but hoping the code helpers are all there now!

dont these 09+ models have electronic differential lock to help us get out of these sticky situations?

Id still rather not have it, my 2003 had no fancy tc or diff locker and it could run circles around this one in the snow.

Do you have snow tires on your '11?

I ran my '09 for its first winter on the crappy all seasons it came with. I tried driving it with the traction control off and I couldn't even touch the throttle in an inch of snow without the wheels slipping. I put snows on it the following (last winter) and I drove through 6-8" of wet, heavy snow on a very hilly road that had not been plowed. There were times when I was creeping ahead in 1st gear with little to no throttle and never got stuck. The traction control got a real workout that night. The same snows are now on my '10 but I haven't had a chance to really test them yet.

Would my '02 have gotten through the same with snows? Maybe.

Same exact snow tires on both cars. I dont drive thought 6 inches of snow, where i live its not uncommon to get 14+ Inches over night. I drove my 03 home one night and was pushing snow with the grill all the way home and never remotely got close to stuck. Ive had this 2011 stuck 3 times. In way less snow. One day i drove out of the lane way to over 15 inches of snow and it took me 20 mins to go 3 blocks having to go back and forth pushing a couple feet more at a time because traction control would not let me build momentum where my 03 would have drove right through.

Do you have a manual 6 or DSG? I haven't a problem yet with mine. I was at a stand still on a snowy hill waiting for a Crown Vic to fight it's way up. Had the car in Drive slowy accelarated and it had no problem going up. There was about 1-3" of icy snow and moderate to high incline. I bought snow and ice tires on 15" for mine through the dealer. Still unfamiliar with the TC system on this generation of VW's but my Mk4 GTI had the same issue in the winter until I switch the TC off on snow days. Maybe you should ask your local stealership.
