I am hoping someone could steer me in the right direction. I went to have the glow plug recall done (back to ceramic from steel) and they couldn't complete due to an "intermittent" fault to convenience bus. The info is below. Is there a way I can fix this? or am I just srewed. :(

Thank you for the help!

Doing another search on the code. There is a hit on door lock issues like the Ross-Tech explanation provides. Are your door locks working? You might also want to check the wire connection to the Control Module is not corroded.

Hopefully someone else will chime in to add more info about this code.

Thanks Richard, I just thought of this too. Occasionally, my car will lock itself! Eveen if my key is in the ignition...can't remember exactly if I had the car on, or turned to accessory...but it locked (has done so a couple of times)...luckily it was summer and window was down. *(I don't have a spare key so this does scare me). Do you think that this may be causing the fault? Thanks for your help! Thanks to David Hood for graciously running the codes and setting timing for me yesterday.

Yes it sure looks that it can. Based on the info you provided, I would start looking into the wires from the door jamb into the control modules. Which means removing the door panels and start inspecting the electrical lines. It could be cracked wires or corrosion in the connections.

Regarding the door open/closed switches, I have had three of them fail and replaced 4 overall, including having made one bad repair I have done the job 5 times.

I have never seen a CAN bus error nor heard of an error like this coming from the door switch. I think a good approach would be to inspect the wiring - but unfortunately that is extremely labor-intensive.

Checking the CAN communication wiring is the correct thing as others have pointed out - I just wonder if there would be some way to narrow the investigation such as by unplugging different modules temporarily and then checking the CAN bus health, assuming there is a way to do that.

I have seen broken door wiring in the early A5 platform cause CAN bus errors and battery drain from computers not going to sleep.
I have not seen this on the A4 platforms from bad door switches.
When door or hatch wiring is suspect, start with the accordian pleat grommet from the body to the moving panel. Just pull it out of one side and then the other, collapsing it as far as possible. So far this has worked for me.

I need to learn more about the CAN bus errors, so I will be reading with interest.

This member is having a similar locking on it's own issue, the thread maybe of some help.

I will check out this thread. Hopefully he can run a scan and tell me if he is getting the same fault code. It would be great if I could just change the relay in the door. My problem is very intermittent though. My interior lights work fine as well.

First check to see if your ccm is wet or corroded internally.
