Hello everyone, I have a 2011 TDI w/DSG/NAV. In the glove box there is a wire adapter that fits into my Ipod but when I scroll the "Media" button, there is nothing in there that states my Ipod is hooked up? I've read the book and it's very vague. Has anyone hooked up their Ipods yet? Please let me know what/how you did it to make it work properly. Thanks.

The manuals are apparently written by the German's, I believe I can rightly criticize them being of German decent myself, not clear at all in so many areas. When I plug in my iPhone and click Media I see my iTunes library. I only have the touch screen radio though, not the Nav system.

My Ipod works well with my MDI cable. I too don't have the Nav radio though.

Are you sure the cable is properly seated in the Ipod and in the dash port where it connects to the car?

You may get a better response in another forum section if your NAV unit is also installed in older VW models. I know the A5 section has several subject matter experts. If all else fails, try The Vortex site... way more peeps over there, just don't believe everything you read.

I have a 2011 TDI DSG with NAV and when I plug in my iPhone, I can see my library no problem.

I have a new 2011 TDI DSG with the Nav package. When I plug in my iPod, I can see the library, etc. I have an older iPod, and there is one bug that I have also heard others comment on. There is usually a very brief skip at the beginning of each tune. I think that will be fixed when I get a new iPad this spring.

Anyone have comments on practicality of using an iPad? I guess I would just get a longer cable.

In the radio settings there is an option to turn on/off the aux port, mine was off by default, you might want to check this.

Do the MDI cables come with the car? I didn't get one. Hookup's there, just no cable...
Assuming you have the multimedia option it should have come with it. I know my salesman went back inside the shop to get it for me when I picked up my car (meaning it wasn't already installed by default). Maybe your guy just forgot to give it to you, I would go back.

Thanks for all the recommendations fellas. I have the first generation Ipod, purchased in Japan when I was there on business. I'll have to try some of those recommendations tonight after work. I did check the connectivity of the cable in the glove box and it was seated properly. Next I'll check to see if the AUX setting is on/off. Will get back to you shortly.

Each I-Pod seems to get a different display. My I-POD touch had only a few options available in the menu. I tried my older I-POD nano and it worked like a charm.

It's got the dock connector on the bottom. Talked to VWoA and they told me to bring it to my nearest dealer so they can troubleshoot it. I haven't yet, hadn't had the time lately...

OK, did my converter recall and they also checked my Ipod cable. Turned out it was my Ipod  Some of the techs had their own and all worked (3) fine except mine:eek:... Looks like my old Ipod operating system doesn't jive with the MFD head unit. I'll have to get a newer version Ipod. I also went online to see if I had the latest download which I had...bums me out:(

Which Ipod do you have, just so I know not to buy the same one?
