Intermittent Low Power

The engine in my 2005 Golf has a problem featuring intermittent low power. When climbing a hill, or trying to hold highway speed, the vehicle sometimes runs roughly and surges when pushed beyond approximately 3000 rpm. Just shutting the engine off for a few minutes is often enough to restore normal function. The car is showing a check engine light which I have not yet checked, because I was used to it being on intermittently due to a glow plug issue.

Well, you need to see what that code is. sounds like it’s going into limp mode probably due to over or under boost.
