I'm a new be here. I just acquired a Mk5 2006 Jetta from my 97YO dad. The temperature sensor has an intermittent error. It throws a "high voltage code". The failure is random, the dash gauge will bounce around then go to 120 (-40C data stream). Both cooling fans turn on. Then in anywhere from 2-8 minutes the gauge comes back on, and it's typically stable for the rest of the drive cycle.
I've replaced the sensor, and there is 5VDC across the connector, and wiggle the wires do not have any effect.
Should I ignore it, try to replace the wires to ecu, get a new/used ecu?
Thanks
