Intercooler Pump Mod

Been having a P026A for intercooler build up after a few flushes found it's leaking coolant internally. Bought a used one off LKQ just installed it and I never liked the fact the intercooler pump is variable. I know I'm just a guy and not a VW engineer. But I want my IATs the best they can be. Anyways the pump is a 3 pin. Key way up looking st the plug. Left is 5V PWM signal, 12V then Ground. I was gonna tap a 5V signal off the shutter valve/throttle blade but first i snipped the 5V signal on the pump and bam she sings at 100%. Time will tell if I will get a CEL for that wire being cut if I do ill put a resistor on it and update. IATs recovery way quicker. My next potential mod is to put a small reservoir similar to car with supercharger, and block it from pulling from the engine side and be a closed loop system. Maybe if I can find one for $20 I'll Do it.

I’m interested in how this turns out. Wondering if the pump will last being 100% full time. Someone on here talked about swapping a larger pump and the closed circuit idea as well but I think it was one of the newer Golf’s with charge cooler and not the CKRA Passat. Also heard idea of bigger heat exchanger for the charge cooler on CKRA but space is an issue. Good luck 👍

did you ever logg the PWM signal while driving? i have to imagine after say 20-30 miles she's going 100% all the time, so you're really only gaining a little bit before heat soad sets in.

I remember logging on highway a consistent 150f intake temps was common with spikes up to 250f when making a hard pull.

I don't have OBD11 or VCDS. Only use torque to see Charge air temp. With my cooler clogged it was near 200° on the highway. I'd agree I'm sure at times it is 100%. I did in fact throw a P023a for open pump since that wire is cut so If i keep it this way I'm going to put a resistor on it to kill the light. But so far it chills about 25-35 over ambi on the highway. Running 8ish PSI or so.
