Installation of K&N drop in filters

Hello to install a new K&N drop in air filter do you have to use the little tube of lubricant supplied to make a snug fit between the air box and the air filter? Also where does the gasketing supplied with the filter go, on the top of the filter?

Gasket should go on the cover area. Tube of grease is for a better seal. Put the grease on the top of the box in that little channel groove, cover will go on and make a good seal.
