I have 2014 Golf tdi and my heating works very well for windshield and front vents but heating for my foot is blowing cold air.
That's my first winter with my new tdi so I am not sure what is the problem?

Anybody experience same thing?
Any advice will be appreciated ?

Thank you.

Need more time to warm up. Happened to me this morning. I was in 4th gear and 3k rpm, and the temp gauge is at 200 degrees, so I gunned it on the hwy and it warm up quickly. I guess stay at high rpm like 2500 to 3k rpm to keep warming up the car more.

I really don't like how my hand gets drafts of cold air when resting on the shifter. I can never tell if its seeping in through the dash below the radio or up through the boot.

Try turning your temp knob towards cold and then back to hot....my old TDI had the same issue. If I left it on hot, it wouldn't blow hot air

I actually find that I have to do this as well on my 2012. If it's maxed to hot, I turn it back towards cold, and then to hot again and it activates it. Odd, but it works. Might be something to do with trying to keep heat in the engine when it's cold out.

There is a tsb for this. It requires a software update from the dealer. My car wouldn't blow heat from any vent when I had the issue so I'm not sure this is the OP's problem.

I've never had a car that has had good heat to the feet. It's not going to get that warm with how cold it has been outside. There's a lot of cold coming off of the floor boards, frame, etc. that is just not going to allow your feet to warm up.

JATPOL, what you are describing is clearly not functioning correctly, it needs to be checked out. If you have warm air coming out of the upper vents but cold air coming out of the lower vents, that cold air is leaking, somehow bypassing the heater core/air blend mix setup. All the air should be the same temp, regardless of what vent it is coming out of.

I keep mine on 50/50 defrost/floor. If I leave the temp knob full hot it would catch my boots on fire.

+ 1 on the TSB.. had this exact problem and that's what fixed it. The VW Service Dept was bewildered until I did my own research on the problem. It's just a software update for the climate control.

I'm experiencing the same issue with the feet heat.I didn't really notice it until it has been -0* out in the morning. Going to try turning the dial first then will contact the dealer.

Does anyone know the tsb for this issue?

The TSB is not for the heating at the feet, it is for no heat at all from any vent until the temperature knob is turned counter clockwise then back to max heat. Post #2 has some info on that. http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?6005595-Air-is-not-hot-anymore&p=81373954&viewfull=1

I've read a few other posts from other sites that date back a year or so. The common issue seems to be only when it is extremely cold. I don't think it is actually a problem with software or parts. I think the mk6 just has poor volume of air going to the feet and/or poor insulation in that area. If heat is coming out the upper vents, then you know the blend door actuator is working. If air flow is coming out the lower vents when you adjust them to feet, then you know the air distribution actuator is working.

Also, maybe some people just have hot or cold feet by nature. My feet get cold in the car during these low temps too. I have heat coming out of the footwell vents, it's just not enough. I also only wear lightly insulated running shoes so that doesn't help.

Make sure the rear vent is closed to help more volume come out of the foot vents. I might try adjusting the foot well vents to direct the air farther forward.

Do you have warm air coming out of the foot vents?

My 12 TDI would be warmed up and blowing nice hot air out of the vents, then randomly start blowing cold air. It didn't happen all the time. I took it to the dealer and they said it was low on coolant because of a small leak in the water pump. Fortunately, I was still in my warranty period so it only cost me $50 to replace the water pump. My heat hasn't acted up since.

Mine was the same issue dealer had put a new cabin filter in at the last service check.
You guys from northern Illinois.... If you get service in Naperville always check you engine cover for breakage... Trying to get that replaced right now.
