Suggest you only have one voice, speak for you, not for "we". One shouldn't be so lazy when such an amazing discovery and possible solution for 4 years of production with a failed previous design becomes available for public knowledge.
There is no offense intended. If you are using a browser that corrects this issue you created, then I assume you may be unaware of how annoying the giant images can be. There is nothing lazy, because I read every freaking line on this page, but it is a tremendous waste of time and a miserable experience to have to scroll for each and every line on the page. This can be especially bad on touch screens.

I can assure you that I am speaking for "we," because many people here will be using web browsers that are thrashed by your giant image.

Please be considerate and downsize the image to a typical laptop screen width, and then place a link to the hi-rez.

I am obviously not downplaying your "discovery." I'm reading every bit of it. But you're making it really hard to read.

Here are the pics from the EBay listing. I guess the pump date is late 2008 not 2009.
Thanks for the tag, I'll get it added to my list.

Also that huge image is extremely annoying. Browser: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/535.2 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/15.0.874.21 Safari/535.2

(Google Chrome on Linux if you don't care about specifics)

P.S. The DataMatrix code contains:
BPT1312082115210403L755A06
(BPT 131208 211521 04 03L755A 06 if you break up the different parts)

I believe that once debris packs up around the captive roller and it stops rolling, it can become wedged / worn to a point where its no longer lays parallel to the surface of the cam. Once that happens, it likely gets turned 90 deg in short order. When that happens you've got point contact not line contact. The accelerated wear that happens after that pretty much locks in the orientation.

This is the main beauty of the Delphi DFP6. The square follower can't turn. If the Delphi pump will stand up to full crankshaft RPM to meet 2.0L I4 CR operation, Bosch will really have some egg on their face. This is the point were we learn if VW told Bosch how to design the pump or just failed to "challenge" Bosch on the design they provided. Clearly VW know something was wrong with the Bosch pump early on. Did Bosch tell them it was a marginal design? Given VW's pursuit of Delphi I suspect not.

EDIT - I missed page 2 of this thread. The above is all redundant except for the speculation about what took place between VW and Bosch. VW has to be careful here because Bosch supplies Porsche and Audi as well. I don't think Delphi is ready to fill that big a gap. So at some level Bosch may have VW over a barrel. Porsche owns over 50% of VW if what I read on the web is correct.

Trying to explaine this to someone who thinks we're going Marxist is a stretch but let me give it a go.

When the government is controlled by corporations it becomes a fascist state (Italy during WWII) Anyone here disagree with the statement that most 'every' member of congress is a fully owned tool of corporate America.
OK, Tell us what it means when the exact opposite of what you state above is in play which is exactly what has transpired in that government controls corporations. I'll give it a go. Fisrt step to socialism. ie: Takeover of GM, Chrysler, Banks, and Insurance Co's followed by unconscionable job killing regulations on businesses large and small and then on to more and more taxation. How about 48 million people on food stamps? 99 weeks of unemployment benefits? How about 50% of US citizens that pay ZERO in federal income taxes yet a BHO cronie corporation such as GE pays no taxes and its CEO is a fricken govt. appointed czar. Sound familiar? Great definition for progressive socialism, eh? Please don't get me started because I'll slam dunk it.;) Later!

Interesting thread about HPFPs. Great stuff here.

Except of course for this stuff:

Another interesting topic from a couple of guys I wouldn't mind having a beer with. However, this is not the place for it.

Can we return to our regularly scheduled programming now?

Trust me, I understand and such a factual overview of what I presented would never have taken place if it wasn't provoked. Not that two wrongs make a right but, it is what it is.;) Later!
