What torque spec did you tighten your injector retaining nut to? I'm going to retorque mine this weekend, but don't know what to put them to.

(yes, I mean the injector retainer, not the nozzle retainer)

I believe the spec says 20 or 25 FT/LBS. I usually go to 30 to ensure no compression leaks. Did you install new copper washers on the injectors? If so your probably fine with 25 FT/LBS. If you re-used the old ones then go higher like 30 to 35. Do not overtighten as you may strip the threads.

I'll keep that in mind. I just tightened mine till they were tight. I didn't have a torque wrench at the time. I did use new washers though.

The Bentley manual says 15 ft-lb; I learned the hard way and looked in the manual after twisting off the clamp bolt on #1 injector by torquing to 45 ft-lbs. Luckily the bolt was broke where I could drill the center out and remove it with no harm done. All mine are now set at 15 ft-lb with no leaks from a soap test.

Just to restate what reiddo1 has said... 15 ft/lbs. I have gone up to 17 or so but 25-30 is too much. It doesn't take much factoring in the leverage the holdowns deliver.

My bad
You are right. I rememberd it was less that what my torque wrench starts at. My wrench starts at 25LBS so I set it there and have had no problems. Changed over 50 sets of nozzles. If I reuse the old washers ill go to 30LBS to make sure they seat properly.

No biggie... after reading more than one post about folks snapping off their pivot studs and having to struggle to easy-out them, I just figured an extra word of caution was in order. I re-use the washers all the time. Surface them w/some 400-1200 iron-oxide type sandpaper (MCKA wet/dry) heat them to cherry red then quench them in some oil/bio/water etc. and you're good to go.
