We have already "scheduled" our turn-in dates for our 2 TDI's. I will be shopping and buying a replacement for 1 of them in the next month or so, but without any sort of incentive from VW to stay with them, my money is going elsewhere. If they were going to offer something like this, it should have been done already- if I wait until 11/1 (first turn-in) I would be without a car for a while, due to the fact that so few manual transmission VW's are on dealer lots.
How did you already "schedule"? The online settlement signup does not offer that and says that will come later.

Im hoping VW offers some sort of incentive. My wife and I are thinking about dropping off our 14 Passat TDi and leaving with 2 Jettas, one base and one 1.8T Sport. Well see how this all works out.

Recently purchased a 4-door GTI, Autobahn, Performance package, DCC, lighting package, 6spd for $4530 off MSRP, parked one of the TDIs till this fall.

$4000-5000 seems to be the average discount on the GTIs.
Are you seeing these prices in online ads or something? Not that I've looked too hard yet, but I don't see that sort of thing around here.

Here's an example: Ourisman VW is selling 2016 GTI Autobahn w/Performance Pkg at $8K discount. Dealer is located in Maryland. I don't think I can get anywhere near that discounted price here in Calif.

I looks like the east has been very aggressive with pricing. While I would prefer to do business local, I have no problem doing a road trip to see some old friends and drive back across country in a new AllTrack next spring.

Works for us! We bought our current TDI in Minnesota & took the long way home.

Deal ok but not as good as advertised

A local dealer near me had new Passats for about $7200 off on their website. When I went there in person the best they would do is a discount of about $5000. They claimed the larger discount was for lease or finance related deals only. So don't believe everything you see unless you have it on a contract. Of course the Internet showed all kinds of disclaimers do not much recourse except to go elsewhere.

There are a good amount of fees associated with those dealers in the Virginia, Maryland and Washington DC areas. Doc Fee, Delivery and Destination Fee, etc.

Still good deals to be had but the online prices are normally not 100% legit.

So basically you just need to search...

Does anyone know a good search site? Like an autofinder kind of thing? I can't seem to find a car specific search engine, and most dealer sites aren't good with filters, like searching for manual transmissions for instance.

I have never seen a dealer of any brand of car that did not charge some sort of document fee. You should always ask for the "out the door" price when comparing one dealer's offering to another.

Doc fees vary from state to state, yes it is a must question that needs to be asked early on.

I use http://worldautocertified.com for VW CPO cars.
Then https://www.cargurus.com to save searches on make/model/year (and options).
And also https://www.truecar.com for evaluating prices.

Happy hunting!

I think it's more likely that other brands will offer incentives to former VW owners. Volvo just gave me $1,000 off, for leaving another brand (VW). It's called Conquest Cash. Maybe there'll be other, VW-specific offers?

Crikey, I just paid $80.
Yea, I think I paid about 100 for a GTI I just purchased.

I am simply referring to the NoVA dealers and their insane deals, the deals are not so great when they start adding on their huge doc fees, destination fees, delivery fees etc.

Yeah they seem to kill you on small fees here on md. I'm seeing dealers in my area with gtis 6-8k off MSRP so even paying $500 in doc fees plus destination and taxes would put you around $4500-$5000 off MSRP. Very tempting for sure especially if I can nab 0% VW financing. I have to see if my credit is good enough for that though, I'm around 700-720 at the moment.

Stopped at a dealer today in NJ (Trend VW in Rockaway).
They actually had a 6-sp manual GSW on the lot, and I wanted to test drive one as I'm hoping to replace my TDi with that. (was boring but I don't care if the price is right)
He said manuals will be "impossible" to get for 2017 models, and that VW is trying to phase them out.
He also claimed VW will not offer any special incentives on new VWs towards TDi owners taking part in the buyback. His reasoning was that VW was already spending a lot of money on the buyback amounts.

I'm hoping he is wrong. He just came off as a typical sales agent who will say anything to get a customer to buy now vs. later. It seems that no one knows anything yet.

TDI Please

Tell me about your experience going from a TDI into a GTI. Please. What's it like when compared?
I have a 13 TDI, just sold my 16 GTI PP with APR stage 1.5 tune and a 2015 TDI. Hands down enjoy the 13 TDI the most. MK6 feels more solid and comfortible. The German built MK6 feels so well sorted.

Both the MK7 TDI and GTI are way more hansome inside and out but just does not feel as comfortible and pleasant to drive.

Between TDI and GTI I personally found that the mind blowing speed of the tuned GTI was not as much fun as the 50 plus hypermiling I could play with. For me it fits my driving style better.

In the end I think the MK6 TDI is a perfect car but will keep the incredibly handsome, tech heavy, super mpg MK7 mostly cause it is so darn good looking, and gets 5plus mpg better then the 6.:D

This applies to every car salesman with whom I have dealt in 50 years of buying cars.

There's no reason to trust a car dealer. Just work out the out the door deal you want with the people who have the car you want. Beyond that, trust what's in the paperwork.

What trim level was that? I was under the impression a 5MT was the only thing available with the 1.8T, or other motors. Or more specifically, I thought the TDI and GTI were the only ones getting 6MT, and the wagons don't come as a GTI...

I believe VW has already announced a manual (6 sp) for 2017 GSW (maybe just the all track?) but not in the beginning of the model year but coming later. Isn't the 2016 a 5 speed? http://media.vw.com/release/1212/ has info
