If you can borrow the tools all you need is fluid. It sounds like enough people are doing it there will be tools to go around. You are also more than welcome to borrow my Motive Bleeder. I will bring some denatured alcohol to clean the thing out between flushes if people are worried about mixing fluid types.

Ok! I'm asking to officially be put on the list for a brake bleed. Thanks Lito! Thanks Mikey!

I have to ask...in the multiple pages of this thread and this being my first GTG, I definitely want the dent wizard treatment but did not see a sign up check list. Did I miss it? If so, apologize for my stupidity. Otherwise, what will be the process?

Also, will there be someone there to guide me through the window regulator installation experience? I believe Paramedick said he was bringing his Bentley manual...I just picked up the car last week and this is an issue I need to address before I go on reserve duty on Sunday.

If time permits I would like to do a brake bleed also, as I already have the fluid...but I'm only familiar with the old fashioned hop in the car and pump the brakes routine...so someone will need to edumacate me on one of these new fandangled Motive bleeders ;)

The bleeder is the easiest thing to use in the world. Think inverse of a Pella. All you do is fill the thing up with the fluid of your choice. Then suck out some old fluid from the reservoir and screw on the Motive where the cap usually goes (I have the attachment for the VW cap size). Then you pump the thing up a few times to the proper PSI. Now you just get to each wheel and open the bleeder screw until the clean fluid is coming through. That's the skinny.

There is a very detailed thread here.

I would like to come to get RC work done (if I can be slotted in around noonish). I have to work that evening in Philly. I tried to reach Jeff, but his mailbox is full. (Bounced back).

Anybody got any ideas I could try this weekend or got anything they've used that they would be willing to let me try? I figured this would be as good a place as any to find some finish savvy people.

Shag
...did someone say 'finish savvy'...?;)

The product for you is 3M Finish Restorer, available at Wal Mart for ~$10.
I can show you that, or go for Zaino's 'Fusion'.

Fair warning: The Zaino System IS addictive...but works EXTREMELY well!

Either way, come with clean towels and plenty of elbow grease!

Check this link to see what PennDOT has going on their roads: http://www.phillytraffic.com/manual.html

Though knowing PennDOT like I do, they are likely working on every road you need to use...just to make life hard.

Shag,

I will bring my bottle of Z-PC to see if it works. If so, you can get it from here http://www.zainostore.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=Z-PC&Category_Code=Zaino
Thanks man! I'm going to try to round up a couple of those other products too and hope something works. I've tried quite a few B&T removers without any luck so we'll see.

As for you guys that suggested clay... I gotta be honest... I don't even know what that is. Damn novice :) Thanks for the suggestion, I'll read up on it.

I'll also try that 3M product you mentioned, Hamster.

Thanks all! see you Saturday!:D

A couple of questions from an Impexfest newbie.

1) Is it too late to sign up? My wife and I probably won't be coming to dinner, and I'm not quite sure if I can come quite yet. Will know more tomorrow...(long story...) But I don't need any brake bleeds or chips or anything like that just want to come and hang with the TDIers.

2) Does anyone know how to install the Ipod Adapter on an 04 Golf GLS with the monsoon? Stereo equiptment is far beyond my low brow mind but help would be greatly appreciated and compensated.

Like I said, I will know for sure if I'm coming tomorrow (Thursday...) but as of right now it's looking good.

Thanks

No you don't know or no none for sale
Tomo means NO as in "Vag-com will not be availible for sale at ImpexFest."

You have to purchase Vag-com with cable from the firm that offers it or use the free demo version with a Vag-com compatible cable. This company will not be attending ImpexFest to sell their products.

Based upon PM's and other questions I'm getting I feel I need to clarify the issue of getting work done on your car at Impexfest.

I know many of you who have been to Impexfest before already know this and may be obvious to you.

If you want your oil changed, brakes bled, or transmission fluid changed then you should expect to do the work yourself. There will be parts and supplies that you can purchase from Impex but the labor and work will be your responsibility.

Now, there will be lots of experience, friendly and helpful people but no one will be dedicated to doing work on OTHER people's cars.

Mikeyworks is there to keep the work flowing, helping where he can but mainly to run the lift, shop and coordinate all those logistics.

The only obvious exception are timing belt changes and I know MOGOLF charges a reasonable fee for doing this work. But you are responsible for contacting him on your own.

Expect to get dirty and greasy if you need work done on your car so dress accordingly and bring your tools.

Lito, Officially sign me up please.

Okay, I need assistance with doing my first TDI fuel filter change on an A5 Jetta. It is also time for an oil change, so I would be looking for a Pella person. I have lots of tools and lots on experience on my old VW & Audi gassers. This is my first TDI. Just want to raise my comfort level with navigating around the engine bay so I can stay away from the stealership. I plan on arriving in the AM Saturday and buying parts down there.

Thanks -Mike

I will be coming. I need to run some diesel purge through the engine (thx meganuke), change out the air filters and get one of jettafock's blitz cans. If I get the spacer and bolt in time from evolution imports, I will be installing a Thor skidplate. I'm also debating whether to clean out the egr/intake - that wil depend on the weather and line...

I will be bringing my VAG-COM, motive brake bleeder, pela 6000, rhino ramps, tools (including a set of triple-squares) and a digital camera that is capable of taking video (640x480 30 fps or up to 9M pixels) - so if someone want's to do a how to video or pdf with pictures...

I plan on coming with my cameras, but just to watch, hang out and take some snaps of any thing interesting. I'll be nice to see some of the people and TDIs from this site.

Does anyone use Einszett products? I've been contemplating buying their bug pre-spray and a few other products from them, but would like to see how they work..

If anyone has the bug stuff and their interior stuff, would they be nice enough to bring it along for me to test it out on some small spot so I can decide if I want to purchase.

If anyone needs a helping hand with anything, let me know. First on my list will be the 3-blink splice install, from there i'm free up to help anyone =)

I'll be the guy in the pants with the grease and paints stains holding the Lowenbrau.... Oh wait, that'll be pretty much everyone. =)

Do you have radio removal tools? It's best to pull the head unit.

Yes, and you will need someplace to work on the wires. The radio cage is the closest and best place to work with the wires.
