Immobilizer Delete Question

So, helping my wife learn to drive stick. Something I hate about this 2010 Jetta is that if you stall it, you cannot just turn the key and restart the engine. You must rotate the key fully back/counter clockwise, then you can turn the key, turn on accessories and restart the engine. This makes a mildly stressful situation so much worse, especially considering we have stop signs where you cross multi-lane highways. Will an immobilizer delete allow me to restart the car by just turning the key forward/clockwise after a stall? or is that simply a design we cannot circumvent?

immo delete will not change this behavior.
simply the design of the system. there might be an edit to be made in ECM, or BCM, or CECM, or whatever modules EEPROM is in charge of preventing starter from engaging after engine start, but it isnt likely to have been done / documented. (atleast to my knowledge)

Under what conditions can you bump start it? I understand your wife won't be doing that, but i'm curious, as my Mk5 & JSW are all DSG.

manual will bump start with ign on. done it many times for fun in my parents manual JSW TDI

no. you don't have to cycle the ignition off then back on in order to pop start.

the starter lock-out has been a VW feature since the start function was integrated with the ignition key in the 50s.

OP might want to look into a push button start.

Thank you all for the information! The primary issue is getting this water buffalo moving (the car, not my wife ) Once its rolling its good to go. But when this thing is loaded with camping gear, people, the A/C is blasting, and you're on a steep hill... It takes a bit of finesse and sacrificing a portion of your clutch to the volcano gods to get her going.

I've found the Mk6 and particularly Mk7 cars a lot less forgiving, too, compared to the Mk4 - I took my teenage niece and nephew out in the ALH car and both started from a dead stop without stalling on the first try. I know many here dislike it, but hill-hold-assist on the Mk7 is a godsend in my wife's eyes (or feet, as the case may be).

But yeah - I was gonna say before @borninabus mentioned that having to turn the key back to off before starting again goes back to the 50s that it's certainly present in the Mk4 and Mk3 (the oldest VWs I've owned).
